nerfing my cannon loaded escort?

From the notes:
Increased the power Drain of Turrets, Single Cannons and Dual Cannons so they are more in line with Beam Arrays. Single Cannons and Dual Cannons now drain 10 (like Beam Arrays) and Turrets now drain 8 - Note Cannons and Turrets still only drain power for half the time as Beam Arrays (Heavy Cannons drain for 1/4 of the time as Beam Arrays).

As a tac escort loaded with only these types of weapons, my DPS is gone after a few seconds of fire. I then have to fly around taking damage for another few to reload my energy, and the cycle repeats. Let me know when you undo this, and I will come back.:mad: QQ etc.

    Or you could, you know, learn to not Full Impulse into battle so your energy is already at 100. Beam Arrays are still more costly to run then cannons or heavy cannons.

    I found the change to increase My Spike damage a great deal. I don't know how it affects my overall DPS because there is rarely anything left to do a second pass on. Of course i follow up my cannons and turrets with HYIII Quantums to kill the hull of all but the biggest ships. Ontop that, i still only use one EPS flow regulator, and time my attacks for max damage.

    Basically, they wanted the combat to be more strategic. I think it halfway worked, easing the power down slowly would have been better then one big lump, but meh, I'm not in charge.

    I fought 3 rounds of PvP - not a huge sample, but I honestly didn't see much difference.

    Because while power cost went up, cannons only cost a fraction of what arrays cost. Same cost, but the length of energy spent is significantly shorter.

    Yes, that's the idea. Very high DPS should not come without a penalty. You'll need to compensate with consoles and abilities, or replace one or two weapons with things that don't use much energy. I have a quantum torpedo launcher both fore and aft on my fleet escort, plus the EPS Power Transfer ability. Works for me.
