I bugged this in game already, but figured I would try my luck here to see if anyone had any suggestions or similar experience. Last night my front beams just stopped working--wouldn't fire, but my rear beams did. This only started happening after the first couple of squadrons in a mission. After completing a mission the same thing occurred in the next one, working at the beginning and then not later on. It actually led to a funny sight, the easiest way for me to fight was with the rear of my ship facing the enemy. Today when I tried again, the same stuff starting happening. I can mitigate it by swapping my beams while traveling between squadrons, in particular using a third beam array that is of a lower level that happened to be in my inventory, but it makes my life difficult and sometimes just stops midway through a fight. There are two new things that occurred around the same time. I starting using a new vessel (Reconnissance Science Vessel ) and subsequently started using beam overload as a BO skill. Any help would be appreciated.
The OP may be experiencing the "weapons go offline" bug some of us have been seeing. I first started seeing it on Tribble 2 weeks ago, and tonight on live I have individual weapons going offline after using Beam Overload. It never happened for me on live until after the patch, so I suspect it's the bug I saw on Tribble.
I'll start with 6 beams, and by the end of a Fleet Engagement 1 fore and 1 aft weapon are offline.
If I stop using Beam Overload (which sucks since I'm all beams), I don't have the problem any more. Oddly enough though, for me, switching out weapons wouldn't fit it. I had to switch instances of the map to get it to work again.
Its not power. It happens for the rest of the encounter. Even moving between squadrons when everything repairs, etc. It sounds like the weapons go offline bug. I found another thread shortly afterward where someone was having the same problem and associated it with beam overload as well. So it sounds like a bug. Although I must say, it started before the new patch was uploaded.

I must have been lucky then. I only started seeing it on the test server which then propagated to live. I was using the same weapons loadout and playstyle before and after.

Some details to the change in weapon/EPS dynamics with the new patch are detailed in this thread:

From what I read, its time to revamp your weapon layout...
