REQUEST Veteran reward of $15 credit/Character Slots for Lifers, Veterans, and others

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
I've never really spoke up about this much, but these past several weeks with all of these Lifetime member benefits I figured I may as well formally ask Cryptic for the following as a lifer.

Since Open Beta and the option to buy a lifetime subscription, I realized that having to still buy a retail product later meant I would not receive that 30-Day free or credit extension on my account as a Lifetime member. Therefore, I always wondered if Cryptic would be willing to credit us members with $15 worth of Cryptic points(1200 points). It's really the only Lifetime member perk I ever wanted.

URL: *currently looking for link with FAQ details*

Since us early lifetime purchases do not get the free 30-days that everyone else gets at the beginning or the end of their pre-paid subscription(the Open Beta folks), I would have preferred to have gotten 4 more character slots(according to Chamption's Online additional character slots purchase option for 1200 Cryptic Points) or according to the newly updated Star Trek Online C-store 3 more character slots & one free Respec token for our accounts totally to about 1150 Cryptic Points.

Since we already have a bunch of goodies, I am not opposed to this being given as a one year anniversary veteran award bonus which is also awarded to anyone else that has at least a year of membership and have spent a minimum of $240 on subscription fees. This would be allow you to include those that spend $300 on the lifetime membership currently, and then the other members such as yearly, 6 month, 3 month and monthly members once they hit the $240 spent mark.

Link to Cryptic Store: https://startrekonline.com/user/278537/cryptic_store
Link to Current Membership offers: http://startrekonline.com/subscribe where it says the same as it says on your retail box or digital purchase, "You must purchase Star Trek Online in order to play. Thirty days of play time are included with your purchase."

BTW, I do know tha above subscription website says "Lifetime subscriptions allow user to play without paying monthly subscription fees. Promotional discounts and features do not apply. You will be charged immediately when purchasing a Lifetime subscription. " That is why I am asking Cryptic to consider this request as a Veteran reward as they are under no obligation to give us that lost "free 30-days".

Also, since I am already suggesting that those who spend $240 on subscriptions get the above requested perks after one year of membership, I would like to formally request that the playable Liberated Borg is also unlocked for my non-lifetime brethren once they have hit the $240 membership fee status after a year or more of membership(unless of course it becomes available sooner).

One last thing, "4. Visit CRAZY DOOR YEAAA BOYEEEE in system space outside Earth Space Dock or Qo'noS and warp to the Captain's Table." Really?! You guys are such cads. :p:D ROFLMAO. Funny stuff.

Anyways, your thoughts?

Down the road, if they want to throw us white guys (and gals) some rewards, I'm ok with it. I am intelligent enough however to realize that the lifetime rewards are basically worthless, and it was given to show to only dedication to the IP, but an investment risk.

I had a long discussion with my friends on if I should be a lifetime (they arn't into ST). They honestly asked me some hard questions, one such was "Do you feel the game will be worth playing for the time you paid for up front?" It was hard to answer, and I finally said no, and didn't.

I don't regret it really. Its a fun game, and I expect it to last, but opting out gave me financial security for other things that I should be doing other then video games. You, the lifers, took on a short-term risk, and you should be recognized for it. Many lifers complained that they shouldn't have spent the money, I say to them that you had the same opportunity as I to weigh the options for yourself. I am happy staying a white, and I hope you feel good knowing you helped this game in the short-term.

Thanks for reading, its a bit long, bye.

Lifers get perks coming out their rears as it is

    And you want more?!?!?!

How about a perk for us regular working class folks who pay the standard mmo fee that's been there since the dawn of mmos, 15/month

Your right, two wrongs make a white. You need 2 rights to make a blue, and you only have a 50/50 chance for blue with a right and wrong.

I would really rather have the ability to maybe pass on that 30day time to a friend. Maybe a chance to give someone time to get into STO and maybe even sub... at any rate another possible use of that time maybe?

Though I really never missed it and knew I was giving it up from the get go. Buying the Lifetime early just gave me a better pricetag on it.

    nice and confusing :P

i think cryptic will probably go the route of veteran rewards of some description for all players mind you. yes LTS didnt get the 30 days free (and remember when the 60 days fiasco was on, lol good times) but i think thats what the other perks are covering us for.

if they choose to reimburse us for the 30 day loss, which is possible, im sure that will upset a lot of regular subs. im happy with what they have given us so far, and because i missed out on the original special im glad they added character slots into the c-store at the price they are. extra slots for me now :)

Ok, let me simplify my post. And I actually forgot to add the addiitonal "other".

Request - $15 worth of Cryptic points for people who have spent $240 on membership fees.

After 1 year and $240 in membership fees minimum, you get the following as determined by Cryptic.

    - $15 aka 12000 Cryptic Points to spend however you wish.
    - 3 additional character slots and 1 Respec token for one character slot
    - Liberated Borg playable character

In adition, at any time that you add an additional retail box or digital code to your account, you get an additional character slot. Several folks have spent much dinero on buying the game twice or thrice to get all of the perks, so it would be great if Cryptic stole a tactic from Guild Wars and offered the following:

    - Add an additional retail key or expansion code to your account beyond the required retail code and unlock an additional character slot.

These suggestions are for all players [/B. ]who have had an account for at least one year and have spent $240 on membership fees, whether it take one, two, three years or more. For adding additional retail keys, this offer should be immediate, no need for a one-year anniversay.

    Better?

You know that's an even better idea. It would give us more chances to hand out 5-day codes or a free 30-day pass, which would be nice to get my brother into the game longer.

However, it would cut into the benefits of buying a Collector's Edition as a Lifetime subscriber as you could do the same thing with the three 10-day trial cards that come with that version.

In addition, I recently received a request from a TELLDER1 asking for the following: "Hi.can you give me a activate key?..<snip>.." Even though I appreciate this guy's plight(I was there once when I was still searching for a cheap offer on the retail box), such messages could become more common in our inboxes now that players needing codes would be able to easily identify us on the forums or in the game.

No, it isn't better. Perhaps in a year a suggestion like this would have some merit, currently it does not. The reasons are beyond obvious as to why.

    Welcome to Segregation Online!
Can't afford $350 or didn't want to for a Lifetime Sub? That's ok. Back down to third class seats so you can row the boat for everyone else. We shall not interfere with the precious first class customers after all.

    really?

with a sig like that its no wonder your labeled as a troll. go figure.

Yeah, not really, or I wouldnt be blue. According to them, they never gave refunds as the refunds were against their polocy. Or thats what I got told after getting hung up on no less than thirteen times

You aren't going to want to hear this OP but you did get the 30 free days as a Lifetime subscriber. The LT 'subscription' did not start until your 30 free days finished. While this might sound meaningless in theory, it really wasn't. People who had buyers regret within that time period were able to get refunds on it.

Even if this wasn't the case, Cryptic doesn't owe us a thing for it. It was a freebie that was nullified by our sub. But you and everyone else knew this when choosing that subscription plan. Also buying that plan in advance got you far more than a $15 savings on the actual price. Plus added borg/slot perks.

Same here. I did not get to experience that free days to decide to cancel myself. It was three disconnections for me when I tried calling(albiet the day right after the supposed cut off date), before I eventually gave up trying. But it all turned out to be for the best in the end. :D

So technically, since I did not start/activate my subscription from its Headstart status until the 13th of this month(when I put in my Collector's Edition retail code) I could still cancel my subscription before the 13th iof April.

    Hrrmmmmmm.....

Nahhhh. I'm gonna stick it out. :p

Thanks for the tip though. And yeah, I do understand the cheaper offer on the monthly subscription & the free Borg and character slots for our upfront purchase; however current lifetime members who choose to go lifetime after their free 30 days at $300 still get the two free slots and Borg character now. Or is that not true?

Also, I know that the money left my bank account back in January pretty quickly. There was no waiting by Cryptic to give me 30 days time to evaluate the game..... but I digress. He he.

Hmm not sure in your case since you put the code in so much later than you got the subscription. I think you'd be unlikely to get the refund at this point just since its a full month since they got the sub money. But who knows? Question for them really.

But the Borg and slots were only included for the people who bought LT prior to launch. People paying the 300 now don't get either. But they do get all the other stuff that came with this update. Personally I'd like to see them put those bonuses back in for new LTers. The discount was bonus enough for buying in earlier.

Hi Lucky_13_X, I just wanted to post to ask you to doube check your figues, I payed £15 for 2000 Cryptic Points last week, and I don't understand how paying $15 will get you 12000 CP?

I think you should double check that, good evidence, facts etc, make good posts and btw, you have a reasonably good idea here, the monthly subs should get on this, of course it'll be Cryptics prerogative.

That was meant to be 1200 Cryptic points, or the cost for additional character slots at Champions Online, and not 12,000. Whoops!

The greatest perk I've come across as a lifer is the knowledge that I can wait for however long it takes for them to finally make this game great, and be able to dive in then. I played maybe 10 hours in April, but I'm cool with that. I'll more than make up for lost time when the game meets its potential. :)
