a great scene from a great episode... someone needs to cut and paste this into a video of themself blowing the TRIBBLE out of everything and everyone in STO just for the irony.

more space monsters to rescue and help please!

example:
Jem'hadar or some other evil guys are attacking one of those space whales, it's pregnant and they kill it and you gotta escort the baby to a nearby asteroid field and protect it from more enemies until you reuinite it with more of it's kind etc!

At least they're looking at suggestions. Jackalope posted on the thread in my sig.

We're working on a bunch more exploration and non-combat content for "Season 2". I'm pretty excited about some of the things we have cooked up.

Good to hear, Zinc. Any chance we could hear something about a diplomacy system, soon?

Hey, so long as you are willing to be nice, considerate, and helpful, they'll listen.

I put in a suggestion a bit ago, and it's being considered.

However, I do agree and I do hope for more of these kinds of missions.

Someone asked dstahl about it in the latest engineering report's comments. He said the team is in a heated debate about what to do about diplomacy.

I'm just glad to hear they are working on it. One of the reasons I've decreased my play time was the missions got very repetitive with the enter system, kill everyone, go to ground, kill everyone, beam back to ship, kill everyone and done. Doesn't matter too much tho, I've got a lifetime to play the game.

I'm looking forward to seeing more information about this type of content. I try to slip some of it in where possible through various skills that mean i don't have to kill ships all the time. I thoroughly enjoy the game though , and let's face it blowing ships up certainly appeals... a lot; new content is almost always a good thing

I recommend they make diplomacy a series of heated debates.

I'll be happy with diplomatic missions as long as it gives the option of ending the mission with a strongly worded letter delivered via quantum torpedo.

2ndly. Don't you guys already have enough tree hugging missions?!?!?!? Examine those plants, fix the artifact, Aid the poor ppls planet, etc....

You NEED to go try the new KDF explore missions. Raid, pillage and PLUNDER KDF style. Thatt's where it's at. :D

Actually, part of what I'm lamenting is the lack of depth in the so-called "tree hugging missions." If I wanted to pew pew, I'd have played a Klingon. I just want playing the Federation to feel like playing the Federation.

Hah, isn't it funny that the one thing that's really stopping diplomacy is a difference of opinions?

    Good.

In any other game, the non-combat content would annoy the snot out of me, but in this game, we need more of it!

Please add some variety if possible, please. I dunno if I can stand any more pixel hunts.

Great Zinc. I was afraid that you would add a few episodic non combat missions : I prefer the exploration solution because 1) exploration needs love 2) exploration missions are repeatable, which means that we can have non combat content as often as we wish.

Diplomacy and exploration should be the name of the game. They spent more time trying not to fight on most of the ST shows, except perhaps DS9

Diplomacy like what Relict is suggesting in his "how it could work" thread would fit this game like a glove and make it 10 times better.

I would agree here... I do not mind the warfare, but it is getting much too repetitive for my tastes. And while peace making is all nice and good, I would prefer some good old fashioned puzzle gameplay. Use influences from games like Professor Layton, or puzzle agent, and mechanics from games like Myst and Riven, Uru was a good game as well. Put in some weird and wonderful mysteries. Things that you would find in Judgment Rites and 25th Anniversary. You could turn an entire world into a mystery if you wanted to. This game is capable of doing so much. I think that is what irritates people the most about this game, and what keeps them playing, it is this potential (a gamble I must admit) that brought me to paying for a life time subscription, and as I have said, I still hold out hope for this game.

Gaming nowadays tends to annoy me when it resorts to style over substance. MMOs could be so much more if they just found a good way to drop the grinder and do something creative. Again, I do not mind the pew pew (so long as we are talking about the space combat, I still do not like ground combat that much), as one of my favorite Star Trek games is Star Fleet Command, and the table top games, Star Fleet Battles, but grinding all the way to RA, now soon to be VA, is excruciating.

I tried picking it up again, but like the time I tried getting back into WoW, I only ended up going so far before putting the game down again. In fact I think I only leveled a mage up to level 4 and couldn't stand it anymore. I already had one high level. Just like this game, I have an RA lower half, but can't really bring myself to continue it right now.

I do appreciate cryptic listening to the community though, and even if I still have a few problems with Cryptic's conduct (per-character C-Store items), they do come through with many other things (Catians, Kzinti, Talaxians, Excelsior, Nebula, Ship Interiors, and the Rigelians among others).
