Yeah, it's pretty much like going through North America and handing all the people who make more than 90,000 a year a big red hat that they can wear around, and then forcing everyone else to where a little blue hat 24/7 to show that they don't have the cash.

Absolutely nothing Atomic (tho a lot of LTS have the whole their **** dont stink attitude
But having Cryptic separate the players in game AND on the forums. What an fn joke.
What you have to appreciate is, the fact that lifetime subscribers are the minority.
Sure they are all having good fun on the first day of their name+title being displayed in bright blue, but they will always be over run by monthly subs.
Whats the problem here?
For the record, i will soon be purchasing a LTS myself.
But im speaking now as a monthly.
Wheres my care meter?

so a person has to make 90k a year at least to have a lifetime account...
well, i suppose it is also like the person that carries the MCDonalds coffee cup around, while this other dude carries the Starbucks... heck, I guess the other one is without cash.
Actually no, one prefers Starbucks, and happened to spend some free money to invest in the product and obtain the cool coffee cup. The other one just likes drinking the bitter water from the Mcds.
That made no sense, but then again, yours didn't either.
hey now, I got my lifers with a student loan... for studying... this is all part of my revision plan >_>
Lucky, I work all summer in a hot aluminum extrusion plant to pay for my university education and I don't have enough money left over for a lifetime sub.
I have to agree. While I have no problem with lifers getting perks, having a lifers only rec area where all factions can go seperate from everyone else is a bad idea, especially when its the only rec place where both factions can go.

Gotta love the UK student loans, you're working now to get the money for your education, when I leave uni, I'm gonna be working for the rest of my life to pay off the debt ^.^;;
I suggest getting all non lifers a red title like they had the red shirt guys back in TOS, that way we know who to flame and kill off first
Since I've heard people compare it to class inequality, it could also symbolize how we are the lowly proletariat, and you guys are the bourgeoisie parasites who will be the first against the wall when the Red Revolution finally comes.
Personally, I don't see the big deal. We get some trinkets... so what. Lifers aren't any better than anyone else. We got some fluffy perks big whoop. We all still play the same game. Not like any of this fluff is game breaking.

That "attitude" is either completely in jest, or in a sarcastic response to all of these threads you're making.

It was a simile, of course you don't need to make 90,000 a year to get a lifetime sub. But having a blue name on a forum isn't promoting any good feelings. it's not even a perk for any lifetime subscribers unless they REALLY enjoy feeling elite by having 300 to spare for a sub. I have lots of faith in this game and if I had the money to spend on a lifetime I would. Not to mention that a quarter of the people I see with lifetimes are people who constantly hate on cryptic and bash STO anyway in nonconstructive ways.
Basically what I'm getting at is that separating two almost identical groups of people for the sake of making one group feel special is never a good idea.
No way, yer a lifer, i dont want your stupid falling off in my popcorn:mad:
I'm quite sorry if I offended you. I can completely understand if you don't want to share some of your popcorn with me.
And, on that note, I think I'll replicate some aboard my ship. Now, if only I could get my assimilated Tribble to divulge more of the Borg's secrets...

I have nothing against Atomic... you on the other hand... d i c k
Blue names, Borg, extra slot. I don't give a **** about. Adding extra neat places to travel too. Ya I f'n care.
Espcially when that could have been content for US ALL!

I'll make this ONE exception, cause I think I like you, but don't you share with those other dirty lifers!!!!

Don't you know you shouldn't be fraternizing with whites? They're....dirty.

That would make sense. Phillies fans > Mets fans.
Seriously, though, that's a terrible analogy. We're all paying for a service. Some people paid more, at the outset. This isn't a class-warfare issue, anymore than different car models are. Does Mercedes owe you its top model just because you're willing to buy a car at the lowest possible price?
That said, I do think that Cryptic teeters on the edge of a slippery slope; partitioning a game too much is probably not a good design decision. If there were some way to pay extra or jump through a bunch of in-game hoops to reach certain rewards granted freely to lifetimers, then that would be one thng -- but when certain places are just flat-out inaccessible to large portions of the player base, the environment may begin to feel less like a game, and more like a club.
So far, Cryptic hasn't introduced any substantive gameplay advantages to privileged subscribers, but an MMO is, by definition, largely about the ability to explore and mingle with other players. And since the game lacks for content generally, it isn't completely crazy to argue that Cryptic should be working on stuff we can all enjoy.
In any case, for what it's worth, I stand firmly in the not-thrilled-but-also-not-terribly-upset category.

All they did was pay hundreds of dollars more than me! How does that justify . . . oh wait.

yup...
another little poot of a sound from yet another quitter speck ......
suppose they realize that we have already forgotten who they are ?
or never knew in the first place, so there is no forgetting at all actually.
Warhol's 15 minutes of fame doesn't apply to anonymous forum posters....... it actually more like 15 seconds here.

Cap won't replicate any at the Captain's Table because he believes that some of us would rub butter stains on the shiny counter tops...
