i have been a gamer for about 30 years. i have played everything from atari 2600 back in the day to my newest computer build. i have played many mmos. and this i have to say is top of the worst mmo games i have ever played.
first off. leveling is way to fast. i play about 2 to 3 hours a day. and i made adm in just alittle over a month. this should take approx 6 months to do. but it is way to easy.
2nd and my biggest gripe... the C-store. we pay 14.99 per month to play, not to mention the 53$ it cost to buy the game. with this you get what 3 charater slots. the rest you have to buy. not only that buy other races and other items? this has got to be a joke. this will run off more players then you can imagin. these items should be part of our monthly payment exspecially the charater slots and other playable races, we should not have to pay for these things being it is part of the game. i will bet all the gm`s and crytic studios 100$us to each one of you that this game will be bankrupt within 1 year. and most of the gms and cryptic personel will either be moved to another game or laid off in the unemployment line. due to lack of game and trying to weasel money out of paying customers. or they will have to use funds from other parts of cryptic to keep it going.
its not a bad game has alot of potentental but to try to charge for stuff from the 1st month of going live, man, sounds desprate to me/ atleast city of heroes. city of villians they didnt start that till way later in the game, aprox 3 years later.

to norrow it all down, they shouldnt not try to sell stuff in the c-store that should already be a part of the game that we pay 14.99 a month to play........sto= epic fail

well, I played with rocks before an atari 2600, does that make me more of an expert?

Idk, I can see the gripes, but not really being constructive and trying to make predictions doesn't get you much of anywhere.

I remember when the rockies were foothills, and Pangaea was my back yard - FTW!

OP, I agree on the point of the 3 toons. That is a real turn off for me. I hoped we would get a few more slots without having to pay extra. With the graphic enhancements and Going Rouge coming out, I may go back to CoH. I already pay ~$15/month, and hate to pick up the slack for Cryptic being foolish for handing out lifetime subs.

didn't they toss in 500 points when we bought the game? then we got another 240 for doing that survey. so why not use those?

Is there actually something you would want from the C-Store?
Because I have a ton of CSCs and have seen nothing there I would desperately want right now.
(maybe some character slots later, but who has time to be an alt-oholic these days)

500 points are for lifers/CE/DDE? can someone help me out here?

Anyway, its the current MMO business model to offer additional perks for additional cash.
At least the asian MMOs anyway.
And they have been running for how many donkey years already so...it can work.

Time for you to grow up and leave games alone.....

The game is new, take a break and give it some time or just leave.

The 500 CP at start were only for certain preorder sites.

The 240 CP for the survey where for everyone who decided to spend 10 minutes answering 20 questions to help improve the game.

The 500 CP you need for 2 more char slot costs 6.25 USD...
It can be much, but it's not THAT much...

You need 2 more slots? I'm impressed.
Well, I'm a Lifetimer, so I have 5 slots (2 basic, 1 for the "Klingon" accolade and 2 from the lifetime... by the way, what I saved paying my lifetime is way more of the 7$ for those 2 slots...) but I've still used only my first one... possibly, it will takes months before I need the second...

Thinking for other C-Store stuff... well, they are basicly aestetics for toons and bridges... I'm still looking for something I will spend my 240 CP for... Maybe (MAYBE) I will spend some real money to buy all it's there (no respec or rename token!!! no need to buy them! I like the name I choose and I'll use my free respec - or buy more with in-game merits - if I ever need one...) because I'm a collectionist... but there's such a low chance I would not count on it.

I blame Cryptic for setting up a C-Store with such things? No! Not at all!!!
The industry heads that way and they are part of the industry, why should they do something different!?!?!?
As long as the C-Store is not holding anything "core" for the game, I'll not blame them for it. ;)
When I'll need 2 more slots (in 2012??), I'll save 7$ (I'll save them not going out one evening and staying home playing...) and I'll buy them...

I cannot see the drama of the OP... sorry. :(

Ok, I HAVE to ask: where did you pull this "magical" figure from? Six months is the time you should take to reach maximum level? Really? I've never played ANY MMO, and I've played damned near all of em, where it took 6 months to hit max level.

How much time would you say your method devotes daily? Weekly? Monthly?

    And, yes, I'm sincerely asking.

what does all your gaming experience have to do with this game? Beyond telling us you dont get out much.... heck I am 30 and I have plenty of gaming experience and it has nothing to do with this game and why I think it still needs serious work. You just sound like your bragging and trolling

I have been playing games for about as long as the op, but if your a trend watcher in the gaming world, this kind of thing is slowly becoming the norm, the Asian market has made millions off the micro-transaction games for years, so it was only a matter of time before it crossed the ocean to U.S. games. I was against it at first, but now I see it is not all that bad, DDO, you can play free or pay 14.99 a month and still buy stuff out of the DDO store, that game went from alomst going to dark, to picking up a million new customers since last September. according to Turbine. As long as what they sell is fluff and utilities like the name change and so forth, at reasonable prices, its extra income for the game company, which should equal more game development, unless the CEO is taking a huge bonus..LOL even the Star Wars mmo will have micro-transaction, don't think they will be going away..:)

I agree with OP. Cryptic's business model shows extreme greed and focus on the short term gains. We already have a monthly subscription, and making all of the 'good' features of the game be 'extra' is just unethical. Cost of respec in-game is out of hand, paying to play a race is horrible, paying to get a cool looking bridge ... come on. C-store will create a lot of bad will for Cryptic and alienate a lot of custumers from this game.
