Still at work here but deep in the UI notes is "powers can be locked in the tray". This to me is a big one as I always seem to hook one and drop it into space......
I concur, thanks Cryptic for listening : it may seems a detail but it improved my immersion considerably. Furthermore, it allows me to see the stance of my boffs. Many thanks, kudos to the team.
What exactly are they talking about when they're talking about "shield rings"?
In your main view in space whilst in combat your ship has shield indicators around it to represent the status of each shield facing. You can now toggle those off.
Edit: For those wondering how to disable them - Options>Basic>Enable Directional Shield FX.

But remember, kids, Cryptic doesn't listen to the users. It must be true, I read it in the forums. Sometimes in BLUE TEXT, which we all know meant "special" until today.

Thanks for this Dev team
Yes, I was going to post this myself.
For those that don't know:
Open the power selection tab by hitting P (default)
then tick the box next to Lock Power Tray.
This is invaluable.
You still have the HUD display, which is more useful anyway. The rings only served to let you guesstimate which shield an enemy would hit.
Eh, my eyes are usually more on the main screen than on the console at the bottom of the screen, so I appreciate having information about my shields on the main screen.

OK, the stuff down at the bottom of the screen shouldn't count as a HUD. That's the console. What's superimposed over the "main view" is what counts (or at least should count) as the HUD.
Comments
The admiral rank pips work on the TNG/DS9 uniforms
Mine still doesnt work. Just shows a huge metal collar around my neck still.
Whats doubly great is your BOs also put their weapons away if you do.
Also on the Great small change list was being able to shut off those shield rings finally.
Thanks for this Dev team
Still waiting on my female mirror universe uniforms.
I have the same issue. I tried the tailor at Earth space dock and DS9.
wierd.
Agreed. Thank you, Cryptic.
Warning: This feature affects all beam down procedures. When you beam down to a planet in a combat situation, don't forget to Draw your weapons.
Yes I like that. I noticed when I had a ground mission that my away team members don't draw weps unless I do.
I like seeing fewer ppl running around at SB1 with rifles out.
Same for me.
I liked the holstered weapon change very much, that and the "turn off your shield rings in the main window" were awesome small additions.
Damn.
The game should be smart enough to know when to beam down with weapons drawn and when not.

Thank you!
Wouldn't you WANT to see those in combat?
Small update, but huge impact for people like me who wanted to slap my characters silly for going all A.D.D. while I'm trying to edit them.
