Champions Cross Promotion Thought

Hey... I gather that Cryptic was somewhat blindsided by the reaction to Champions (and Star Trek) and that the game isn't doing so great. I also noticed that the lifer perks they're adding to both games are roughly symmetrical.

So... I was wondering if there were plans for STO Lifers to get some kind of incentive to check out Champions?

I enjoyed the trial there at least when I was checking out the game to see if my system specs would be up to par for STO. CO has some interesting stuff coming. STO appears to have substantially more players.

So any kind of synergy or cross promotion would benefit CO at this point, I think.

I'm very hesitant to do two MMOs though. But I liked what I saw of Champions. I'd definitely be a patron of its C-Store and play it if it ever went FTP.

I'd like to see a packaged subscription to both for $23/month

I'm surprised they aren't offering a version of SOE's 'All Access Pass' quite honestly. Its also a great time to check out Champions since the free expansion just went live.

Played Crapions... I mean Champions Online and said I'd give them 6 months. And I couldn't take it that long. So the new zone is what, a new way to get the last 3 levels of the game? I'd be burned out again.

The Nemesis feature... nice except there is only 1 storyline. The nemesis makes a deathray. You capture and make a new nemesis. That nemesis makes a deathray. You capture and make even another one. That nemesis makes a deathray. Capture that one and you go through the same storyline again... makes a deathray.

I'd only play that game again if someone said it was a reactivation weekend and maybe just maybe I might log in.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Having the option of the second game for another $7 can't hurt Cryptic in ANY way.

Furthermore, I am a lifer in CO and STO. I do enjoy both games a LOT. I think people were WAY too harsh on CO, as I think it has one of the best MMO combat systems around. The active blocking adds a level of depth that is great.

I would say just offer the monthly fee, no download cost for the game.. and BAM.. another 20-30k subscibers to champs.

I would LOVE to see more people there. Sad that there is not.

I have enjoyed it every time I have played it.

Which is as much if not more than I play STO

If they give me a cape , mask and a leotard......Ill rename/transfer my STO character over and name it Admiral Bubbles .... J/K . I liked CoV . But way to many problems . The fact that you leave one doored instance and go right back into it ( for a different instance ) . Its just got old . The character creator and the "Interesting" outfits . Were the only thing that kept me even there . So really reluctant to try Champions for that reason . Think I looked for a demo at one time but didn't find one .......

I'll always love Champions for the one thing it has I can't get anywhere else. The ability to pick up random bits of the environment and bludgeon people to a pulp with it. You just can't beat the fun of throwing an armored truck at someone, or hitting someone repeatedly with that conveniently placed toilet you just found.

Also Swinging. Love it. Where I always would sneak back into CoH for Superleap and flying, swinging in Champions is alot more fun.

I think it would work better in STO from the sounds of it.

Your Nemesis could be a random encounter who spices up exploration content here.

DCU has that. And I may be tempted to go for two MMOs a month with DCU supposedly being FTP/cosmetic MT-based. But as an STO player, I'd give Cryptic first dibs on trying to woo me IF there was an attempt made to woo.

DCU is an FTP SOE game. Which makes it DOA to me. ;)

Capes might make sense for Klingons as Gorkon's daughter wore one of the few true capes (not a robe, jacket or even a cloak) we saw in Star Trek. I'd love Klingons to get additional uniform variants in-game and on the C-Store. But definitely in-game first.
