Retrain (400 Cryptic Points) ARE YOU SERIOUS?!!?
Wow just wow....
Cryptic you truly know how to TRIBBLE the average gamer!
100% reasonable pricing. In fact, cheaper than most mmos.
If you dislike it, you can purchase respecs with in-game currencies or use the free respec everyone gets automatically, or if you're leveling a character up, can choose to use one of the one's they get every 10 levels.

How are they TRIBBLE people? Free Respec, and 20k merits. I made 1000+ merits today doing Explore missions to dig up some Badges for my new loadout. And that was only about say an hour and a half. Theres also PvP and Fleet Actions, DSEs and your dailies. Im not seeing anything here then your tired arguement that the Respec Option in the Cstore is a money grab. Which...if you were actually playing the game instead of trying to get everything for free. You wouldnt even care about the Cstore Respec. Because if you play the game, the Cstore Respec is useless.

umm isn't it like 300 explore missions to hit 20k?
seriously, that is a rear-load of the same thing over and over and over and over... how many people will farm for a month or two with a gimped build... just to then respec and re-do it.
some...most will be 'forced' to pay the same they would for a meal, in order to enjoy a game they bought.

the other side has a valid, if weak, point.
Not really. At RA5, I'm wondering what you did wrong if you don't have 50k+ merit. I know I have enough merit stored up to buy 3 respecs.
Spend months farming, or spend the money for the quick way out, or do nothing and play gimped... depending on the amount of time you have to invest in the game, they 'forced' option comes into play.
If you, or others, want to mindlessly do things over and over for months, so be it...others will have to take the other road to have the same enjoyment.
We're sheep because we see Cryptic charging less money for a respec, while giving free respecs, while giving out free respecs every time you level as NOT inherently evil?
Most MMOs indeed dont charge for it. They do not even offer it AT ALL. Others charge much much more. In a sick way, you are correct on that assumption.
And 20k merits aint terrible at all. Easily done. What else are you spending so many of your merits on? They selling candy for merits somewhere I don't know about.
Sheep blindly follow. What you have here are a group of rational people with mixed opinions on the game that refute your irrationality. Hardly makes us sheep.
Here the skills are so pointed at a specific ship you are kind of stuck.
I've said it before in other posts on the forums and I'll say it again here... that whole "put points into what ship you want" part of the tree needs to go. You should be able to command any kind of ship you want without sacrificing skill points to make the hull a little better or the turn rate a little less nauseating.
Diversity should come from the core set of skills, not the ship itself. Picard or Kirk or Janeway or Sisko could command any kind of ship effectively.

if you average what you get in each explore mission and x it by the amount needed, it is nearly what, 300 separate missions? Unless there was a boost to that in the last few weeks since I got too busy to play all the time.

Um... baaaaah?
On a slightly more serious note; Pointless rage is... well... pointless.
At least people who rage over issues with some reason have an explanation if nothing else....
why do these things even cost money, it's all automated anyway it's not like someone has to do it for the player, click a button and it's done, it is just plain moneygrubbing.

Where did I say Just farm Explore missions? It was just a point of how three explore missions back to back netted me 1k+ of merits. I also mentioned ALL the other ways to dig up merits. Some offer more then the explores. His point is invalid considering how EASY it is to dig up merits. Ive netted a good 7k merits in the last 4 days doing nothing more then explores and DSEs and I dont spend more then 3-4 hours online....and thats on a good day when i actually have time. Most of it is about an hour and a half.

Well, since you don't get merit just from explore missions, you're either missing something, or trying to cloud the point.
From Ensign 1 to RA5, you will be given five free respecs. Along the way, you will be collecting merit points. By the time you get to RA5, you should conceivably have about 40k+ merit stocked up - even after promoting all of your Bridge Officers to Commander. That's a total of seven respecs.
You need more help than respecs can give if you actually need to use seven respecs over the course of 45 levels.

What I dislike the most is that beeing and old WoW player and EVE online player. I like to switch around with what I do.
Here the skills are so pointed at a specific ship you are kind of stuck.
A well I guess it means leveling some more character and spec each of them for a ship class.
And why is that?
when its a free offer right now....and free after every rank advance ?
OK..........
that's your prerogative I guess.
.
and also on every rank upgrade...
so be calm

If you need more than 5 respecs... you must pay.
Sorry about your luck.
Charging $5 to respec is TRIBBLE the average gamer?
I do not understand the rage...

Get it right the first time now. No excuses.
this !
and i also dont understand the rage...everybody has a free respecc so where is the point ?

forced ?
who's forcing you ?
.
I LOL at this clueless statement.
just where did you get your info on this ?
:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

So stop complaining.
hence the quotes around it.

Beyond that, respecs are cheaper at lower ranks. It's like 5k for Lt. Commander, isn't it? Respec prices scale will level.

Though Sol will burn down to cold cinders before I actually pay for a respec.

Technically, you can try different specs ... you just need to respec to try it.
Also, CoX only allows 3 earned in-game. If you want more, you have to buy them.
This is not an uncommon practice.
