New Bridges - Waste of CP!

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
It would've been worth the purchase, if the package contained the Miranda bridge from the Wrath of Khan, the TOS Consitution Bridge, or the TMP Consitution Bridge.

But instead, its a rehash of the already existing bridges with slightly different consoles and a different color scheme. I found it to be a major disapointment and a waste of Cryptic Points!

Frankly, I would like a refund.

Uhm, I was waiting for screenshots or video footage before spending any cp on the store, who plunks down cash for something they have never even seen before?

Sorry, I am not belittling you, I just think it would have been wiser of you to wait and see what the bridges and ship skins look like before committing yourself to the purchase.

    Caveat emptor

That says it all right there. I wouldn't have bought the packs if I hadn't seen them first.

True, but people don't generally think of going to the store to see screenshots. Instead, they are more hands on.

Still, Cryptic's new Light Cruiser Bridges are still rehash and a waste of spendature.

To be honest I was always a TNG and later Star Trek fan, I respect the TOS era just never got that into it (too young). And I would be more likely to pay for a brand new futuristic type bridge than I would be for a TOS era bridge. Why? B/c this game takes place WAY after that era....after the TNG, DS9, and VOY eras even...

Everyone can have their options but it may not be a "waste of Cryptic Points" for everyone. Personally I haven't seen the new bridges yet so I can't comment from experience but I'm sure some people like them and will buy them.

Yes, there are people like you who want futuristic bridges, but there are also players who want the traditional feel as well. Cryptic should honor both.

But like I said above, the new bridges are just rehash and not worth the spendature.

It may be way later in the timeline, but since we have the ability to fly these older ships, I really would like to get the cannon bridges from TOS, WoK, TNG, etc. I would pay for those. These variants really don't add much and they are still really big in scale.

I would rather have the option to have smaller bridges. Even if they take the existing futuristic bridges and scaled them down. I would pay for that too!

I like the new bridges the lt Cruiser ones in particular. Yes they are still big but they use the space much more efficiently.

I read somewhere the reason we have such big spaces is because of the camera - they do not want to have clipping if u use the smaller bridgers/hallways/DS9/stations.

Yea. Not to be all whiny and lame, but I feel a bit disappointed in the whole bridge packs. I just dont see why they were not just introduced as an update. I can forgive the new races (slightly) and the respec (but only just) yet charging for bridges.... just seems... tacky.

I duno, I should be more mature and not feel all "entitled" to free content and such.... but this just rubs me the wrong way.

    ...

    In summery, "meh."

I just thought it a waste of time and cp because there is next to nothing you can do on the bridge anyway. When that changes I "MIGHT" look at buying these, but since i see 'em like 2-5% of my game time I'm not going to bother.

I like my cruiser bridge and I find it worth the points. They were free anyway and there is nothing else in the C-Store for me to buy. I would have saved for a new ship model but the FAQ states I wont have access to my class model for 2 months.

The only thing I find irritating about the new cruiser bridges is the fact they are BARREN of crew.

Just look at the Screenshots and you will see it has dozens of consoles / sitting positions but the ones I have seen have limited NPCs. 10 Bridge officers arent enough to fully man the place.

At this point I wish Cryptic would allow Captains the ability to assign their officers on their bridge to specific positions and assign some NPCs. Throw in the ability to set a standard ship uniform and it would allow for excellent amounts of customisation on the Bridge.

Everyone would complain if the C-store had some sort of unbalancing cool gear. So they put cosmetic bridge options in. Now everyone complains about the bridges. Cryptic can't win. Personally I like the bridge options, but I need to know if you have to pay in game to equipment. That would suck.

    Thanks,
    Duncan

The light cruiser decks all look less warehouse-like in size... and all the klingon bridges look like caves. lol

I'll be honest ere I am disappointed in the bridges on the ships, the Connies need Connie bridges from the TMP and TOS era the Miranda/ Shikar need the USS RELIANT or USS SARATOGA bridge from TMP or DS9, the Centaur needs excelsior class, Akira needs Galaxy class with one command chair, and one for station like seen on Voyager, and all those Defiant Bridges guess where they need to be.

Because some people like cosmetic options? Gez, if it was up to some of you people we'd all wear brown potato sacks instead of normal clothing from the sound of it...

I would have liked the Light Cruiser pack if they just adjusted it so the viewscreen was centered. meh. The others are quite nice though.

You have seen the 'off duty' clothing they suggest we wear to Risa right? A potato sack might not be a bad idea :P

Srsly. Miniskirt uniforms but no miniskirt civvies? Bah!

Also, on topic, the Light Cruiser bridge pack is... honestly I'm not sure why they bothered and I'm flabbergasted that anyone actually bought those. The Star Cruiser ones are nice tho.

I have to agree.. This game is farther in the future and calls for more futuristic designs. I'm happy with my purchase for now, though I wonder how the rest of the interiors will look like after that content will be included, if they'll match with the new C-Store bridges and be slightly different from the standard ones.
