They caused the prepatch to delete then tell us wait 6 hours for the new one.
Excellent example of how mickey mouse these developers are. They don't 'get it' ...people want to play not watch a download bar.
I suppose we can expect more of the same in the coming months...what did you expect when they are calling the big dig new content?

Mine is using some of the prepatch content just fine - however, you have to appreciate that many items have changed during the past week, right?

You assume it was done intentionally, and you seem to be taking it quite personally. To take a quote from the Breakfast Club ; "Screws fall out all the time, the world is an inperfect place". In other words 'stuff happens.' Buck-up, take a deep breath, and move on.
Hmm Prepatch worked fine for me. Only took me a little over 5 minutes to update today. Sorry its giving you issues.
Read up, if you started the updater before they fixed the problem on their servers, the updater deletes the pre-patch, and you get to start all over, so stop gloating.

So showing sympathy was gloating. Understood.
And so you know, I did do my update from then. The problem wasnt universal, and I feel bad anyone got hit with it.

I agree things happen to destroy a schedule. To quote Steinbeck "The best laid plans are oft led astray" (Please don't supply the true galic...i am aware). Howver. It seems that there have been so many of these 'unforeseen' events as to make one wonder just how good Cryptic's foresight is.
To quote D. Rumsfeld..."It is far better to foresee even without certainty than not to foresee at all."
Or another gem from Rumsfeld "Reports that say that something hasnt happened are always interesting to me, because as we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns the ones we dont know we dont know"
It is all talk.....reality is in actions and so far Cryptic has yet to show they are capable of delivering on their promises.
I think most people are upset that they pay for the game and find not playing it annoying. As for taking things personally, i find if it happens to me its PERSONAL!
Myself if the game was free id never even visit the forums, but if I'm paying for a game monthly, GD right we have a right to complain.
Yeah mines at 53.5 and I did prepatch its been doing this for almost 2 hours now. I guess my day off playing the new content is pretty much wasted. Oh well stuff happens. Not like I dont have other things I can do in the meantime.
I think it really sucks that people's pre-patches got wiped. I learned from playing Eve to wait at least a couple hours (heck, for a while, even a day or two) after a new patch was deployed before I updated my client. (CCP had a bad habit of TRIBBLE up their patches; I don't even want to go into the whole 'boot.ini fiasco' )
I, luckily, didn't have any problems with mine; I think I ended up downloading about 17mb by the time the patch was done. (Not saying this to be mean or anything. Just saying I, personally, didn't have a problem with it.) I still feel bad for the people who had to download the patch all over again.

Eve? Cryptic itself did this exact same thing during launch of CO. The patcher essentially wiped the entire install directory whenever you ran it, then went into download mode. Then, it would wipe it again and repeat. It was fun.
I think they have a carbon monoxide leak in the office.

How do you think the devs are feeling right now?? Not very good I should think...
And it does not help that some players are bashing them either, now does it??
This should not have happened, but it did, and the players are left feeling a bit let down for having to re-download Season 1 all over again.
I'm sure they will work the bugs out of their pre-patching program, so that it should hopefully work next time around....

lol then I suppose anyone can justify ANYTHING as a TRIBBLE up.
Tell that to Bush haters, tell that to Obama haters, tell that to the person that drunkenly kills someone with their car... yeah, OK.
Let us all just sweep life under the rug. After all, stuff happens.
Sometimes you have to hold feet over the fire...and make people accountable.

lol days like these, when i see people compare the mods to TRIBBLE for cleaning up threads, and others compare programming mistakes in a GAME to slaughtering thousands of people, i'm glad i'm a rational well-grounded being.
Edit. LOL good job editing that atomic bomb nonsense with something that only involves one death. my bad no not seeing the edit, thats much more reasonable.

Yeah, luckily I missed the launch of CO. I bought my copy when it was the deal of the day on Amazon.com, about a month later. Although, the repeated downloading and wiping of CO sounds fun; sorry I missed it. (The last line is sarcasm. I know you know it is, NinetyNine; I'm just placing that disclaimer for others who don't.)
I'm just happy when Eve ate by boot.ini, I had my laptop I hadn't updated yet. I got a free month of play out of CCP for my rig being unusable for a day or two, so I didn't come out empty-handed in that particular scenario. I've always held off on any on-line game updates since then, though. I usually read the forums to see if there are problems, and I don't update until later in the day/next day.

Well, can't speak for TRIBBLE posts, the fact that the point stands... if you can justify things in life as an "oh well', then what it the point of laws, satisfaction, or even life in general?
Things are not just 'oh well'. When they are within a persons control, they are very much the opposite from 'oh well'. "Oh well' is what the person that screws up says to justify it - with zero accountability.
Doesn't matter the reason why, or the thing talked about, it is wrong.

Ok, that was really funny.
99 is good for those.
there's a couple posters today that are heck bent on a ban it seems.....
.... I figure....why not give it to em ?
.
Shhhhhh ...! The Mods can add double-posting to the OP's already sizeable list of offenses.

you lost me in the comparison between Cryptic and Donald Rumsfeld.......
.
Both enjoy torturing people.
I'm at 44%..... don't TRIBBLE.... I have my mouth open.

Mine sits at 87% right now, but as for how long the rest will take, is still up in the air....
I'm not bitter, i understand these things happen. just bored as hell and anxious.
