i dont think its particlarly fair having a skill cap tbh..in some ways the ranking up using skill actually makes the game worth playing and gives STO its addictiveness..
It makes me wonder why i even play this game at times..other to get the best equipment avalible on the game, which i have got except for the shields..
Now it will take me about 3 days to get the sheilds then the game will get boring again execpt for PVP and helping people ffs remove the ****ing cap
lol Skill cap is bothering you THAT much? I take it you dont play any other game besides STO. In every game you hit the brick wall. It makes it so you, as a player, can not become the super player with every skill imaginable. Makes you have to think about where you place your points and be aware of what type of character you are.

Yo, bro, I don't think too it's particlarly fair that I'm not abolutely uber and not the richest and most pretty person on the planet, not invulnerable and not immortal. I guess I quit soon if this will not be changed.

People need to know what is optional and changeable versus what is plain gamebreaking. It would be nice to have more content and have levels beyond RA 5. I guess we can have beyond Rear Admiral:
Vice Admiral
Admiral
Fleet Admiral
Whatever...
This is a cap level issue, not a skills cap issue.
This reminds me of Crafting in Lord of the Rings Online. They had Master lvl from day one. So they had to add an superlative beyond master when going to another level.

This is my take on the cap. Allowing you to max every possible skill doesnt leave any room for them to add future ranks to the game. It would be pointless to advance and gain skill points if you already had everything possible.

Because of this skill cap.. .im having trouble focusing on work (on forum looking for info on new skills etc)because I need to make sure I pick the right path. What do I want to go? Prevents over whelming cookie cutter specs.
Without such a cap, players like myself whom take there time and enjoy the game will always get "Owned" by a few people at the tap... destroying the Re-playability at the top end of PvP for many.
This is supposed to be a "large" community, and as more doors/options open this should grow. Remember this is only 6 weeks after release.
IMHO, the entire Skill tree should be redone into two different trees
One skill tree is the "Captain" skill tree. BO's, Ship Class skills. Unlimited.
The other is the usable skill tree. Limited. Caped, for now.
This way, one guy can be just as good in an escort / Cruiser as long as he is using the same usable skills.
This will prevent "Over powering". Everyone will have equal "power" in the same ship. It will give flexibility when you play a long time.
Also, it will stop "respeccing" since I hate that in games. A character "forgets" how to use phasors over cannons .
