The worst thing for any game company to do is run overtime and not update its players.

    I have bad news people.

You know that "horrible unforseen event" that we kept talking about not happening ... well it happened.

Season One is going live today, but it is the biggest patch we have ever pushed out. It is taking considerably longer to update all of our servers then we had anticipated.

Right now the ETA I am getting from netops is 8am PST (3pm GMT if I calculated Daylight savings correctly), but they are not sure if we will even hit that time.

We will update you when we have more information.

    Here is your update.

Its only 20 minutes... Heck if it was an extra 3 hours I wouldnt mind, something goods happening, They pushed it back 5 days for extra testing, you can wait a few hours so they do it properly cant you?
Edit: hehehe "unforseen horrible events" +2 Hours delay

Agreed! No Knowing = Suspicious, disgruntled, players...

But personally, as long as they don't try to tell me something that is obviously untrue, I'll do my best to be patient.

I don't have any hard evidence of this, and don't want to start a panic, but I'm suspecting that they accidentally wiped everyone's character and never made backups.

    It never ceases to amaze me;

    1) Time table, rest of the world is held accountable for being late or missing a deadline, yet in the world of MMo's you can bet it will happen.

    2) Where is the info? Can u not update the login screen?

    3) Is it impossible to make the information easily obtained?

Personally I do not care what issues come up, neither do my bosses or customers. If I miss a dead line it costs MONEY. This is why you have Tribble.

If you have any say over your days off work then don't book them on tuesdays and thursdays. Those are popular MMO patch days. If you don't have any control over your free days then you have my sympathy.

I'm struggling to keep this in perspective,
but I feel like a massive injustice occurred.

Your GPS run out of battery (first world problem)
Got to wake up Saturday (first world problem)
You just delayed a honeymoon (first world problem)
Pledge season's coming soon (first world problem)
Half your friend list is spam accounts (first world problem)
And your center channel speaker's out (first world problem)

Thank you Mc Frontalot.. you have help show us how Server outages are a first world problem...

Wait in fact he has a line specifically about that...
Yo, when mine goes out I've got to log in just to mention
my disappointment at the interruption of convenience.
I mean just: a lot left, but none up in between this
couple of minutes here and a couple of minutes later.
It's an outrage, at the price I paid. These dictators
of my leisure rule with an iron fist.

Maybe that's how it goes in the cut-throat world of Oxyclean sales, but here in MMO land, it's common knowledge that s*** happens.

Sounds like an opportunity for a company to separate its self from the pack, and rise above. Instead of using it as a crutch, or excuse to lean on when they can not meat deadlines.
