This is a way to have something of a “death penalty” without greatly changing the game mechanics. Presently death in the game is mostly a blow to one’s honor. I suggest making that a bigger blow by advertising it. In some easily accessible place, such as the info tab on a player, list the number of times the player has lost a ship in combat. Balance this statistic out by also listing the number of PVE missions and PVP combats the player has completed. There may be a few other statistics that players would like to advertise that could be put on the page (e.g., number of players killed in PVP); these are just the ones that come to mind immediately to me.

I'd like something that tracked how many EC i spent over time.

I was going to suggest something like that but via another means ...

something like a scoreboard in a "You die you lose" instance where a recruiting thing happens for 15 mins ... you die in a fight your stats are shown ...

but my idea is stupid compared to that idea :D

Sorry I don't want you to know that I died 248,921 times in one mission.

Hmmm it would be interesting to know who the rich people were, but people seem more secretive about money than their sex lives. Of course, you are talking about money spent rather than in the bank, i.e., an extravagance score. However, a frugal player with 200,000 missions and no EC spent could be assumed to have extra credits he could be hit up for to loan (or swindled of).

When I think about it, I know there are players out there who would love to have the Kill Scores listed (especially player kills).

Yes, but I want to know that before I invite you to my team in PvP. In fact, I might suggest that I really think the other side needs your assistance on their team. :D Look at it this way--at least with this as a death penalty you did not lose any more play time or get your ship stats nerfed.
