So they spent development time for an area only accessible by those that bought lifetime subs?

You can call me petty if you want to but that...that..*sigh*

Yeah. I guess they wanted it to be a thank you to all those that took a bit of a risk by buying a lifetime sub. Buying something like a lifetime sub can be a bit dangerous due to the possibility of a game failing before a lifetime sub pays for itself.

Actually, they said they devoted their free time to creating it, putting in extra hours beyond what they normally do.

Yeah. You're right. I forgot about that.

And even if they didn't do that, I think lifetime subsriers well deserve it.

And before I start a flame war or something, I'm NOT a life time subscriber. They paid loads of money and entered quite a risk. So a thank you for them is totally okay in my books.

Season One is a good start and looks after quite a few issues. Season Two could get very interesting.

Agreed. Lifetime subscribers are, in a sense, investors. It only makes perfect sense that they would receive extra perks. Not a lifer myself. Would have been if I had the money.

It's not like the bonuses we get are anything crazy or gamebreaking, just a title and a room. Cool stuff, but it's not like we're given all kinds of phat lewtz just because we're lifers.

And it's worth noting that everyone gets a bigger, more functional, more social version of that room.

I mean, rooms where you sit with a handful of people are generally less desirable in an MMO.

PM me in-game, and I'll shoot you an invite. Supposedly, lifers can invite non-lifers inside.

When they first added it to tribble, non-lifers could enter. The place is pretty weird. There are people there that died in missions, yet they are alive and relaxing at the lounge.

Yeah its related to the book (I havent read) but portals show up in time and space and thats why you could meet ppl that are dead (i guess we could see kirk and picard there reminiscing over the nexus :))

I haven't seen it yet but I understand it's based on the Captain's Table series and follow-up anthology.

The concept is it's a private bar outside space and time where some of the major Trek Captains all gather. The price of a drink is to tell a story.

It's what unlocks the Captain's Table. It may also be tied to the Lifetime costume piece that was announced although I haven't seen any indication it's ready yet.

That, and the other new 'life' stuff is in fact a reward to those who jumped the gun, and also it is establishing the basic content for the normal lifetime sub.

Those who pre-ordered got the borg captain and the extra character slots. That is no longer available, so they had to put something in for the rest, and it was a big thank you on top of that to those who did pay.

Its a risk, because if the game goes under in 2 years you have wasted your money. Lifers only start to 'play for free' after 2 years+

But hey, lifers are also more likely to spend money in the c-store than the rest, after that 2 year period.

As to the captains table, its a gem.

Its a bar/ten forward that any captain of any ship can visit. Time has no meaning there, so you can meet the captain of the first enterprise, or the titanic, and you could meet captain kirk, or janeway, Hell you could meet the freind who died last week or their future son who became a captain.

You have to tell a story to get food/drink. You pay with stories.

    Its basically a rp place.
