A suggestion on an easy to implement ship variation function

I was staring at my ship in the configurator today and I realized that it would be very easy to implement the ability to opt out of lower or upper nacelles on 4 nacelled ship variations.

For instance, I had cobbled together a Prometheus.Cerberus/Phoenix variation and I realized that it would look much cooler and sleeker without the bottom 2 nacelles on it and more "Trekkish" as well. It wouldn't be hard to implement as you would simply be choosing "none" in the selection box for top or bottom pylons and have the attached nacelles disappear with them. If I'm not mistaken, the models for the hulls shouldn't have any holes in them due to them having to connect to the various pylon variations at different points, so other than maybe a texture touch up and a few changes to the configurator, this could be implemented with a minimum of time and money and without causing a massive "non-canon" fuss.

I would like to know if anyone else would support this idea as it adds more say so to what you can do in making your ship your own.

Well, there's a small problem with that.

Visual identification of ships is important during large actions. If too many forgo the second pair of nacelles (or the genital shaped science vessel bulb) - it'd be much harder to identify what tier and type of ship people have.

More variety is nice but there's a point where variety becomes anonymity that can make ship selection less meaningful.

Well, I was gearing more towards just nacelles and not important pieces like pods and such. Plus, you can always identify the ship type by the name over head, such as "prometheus class escort". I don't think that you would lose much over all and the ability to have a sleek, 2 nacelled Cerberus is too much to pass up.
