Will this game turn into another nerf it to death over pvp game?

1- Cryptic has put the writting on the wall for ppl calling for nerfs over pvp by making one side so dependent on pvp.

2- I am starting to see a ton of nerf this and nerf that not only in reg forums but test forums also over pvp.

3- It seems many of the nerfs already done and in the works seem to be all about pvp.

Now i am not saying that pvp should not be as balanced as possable. But, i am afraid that this game will follow what many other games have done and get nerfed to the point of where pve becomes nolonger fun.

Many ppl enjoy the skills that have aready been nerfed and are on the drawing board to get nerfed in pve. If skills that ppl enjoy in pve get nerfed to the point of where they are nolonger usefull in pve cuz of pvp is that good for the game?

Now i know pve in this game is easy at the moment. But, can a game afford to take away stuff that ppl enjoy in pve to balance pvp?

I am not really sure what direction this game is heading. There has already been a ton of posts on seperating the way stuff works in pvp and pve. If the Cryptic team is going to swing the nerf and beef up bat who should they be doing it for if they are not going to keep it seperate?

Nomatter how you swing the nerf bat in pvp ppl will still call for more nerfs. Once you nerf this another build/talent becomes top dog and ppl scream to nerf that. I have seen to many games fall pray to this.

We have no way of knowing, but I am sure there will be several threads about it once it starts affecting peoples playing styles.
On a personal note , I still think that Champions suffered greatly due to nerfing.

Hearin lies the problem with every mmo out there. There can be no balence between pvp and pve the two are way to different. Sad thing is when they nerf powers for pvp it usually only efects players in pvp and pve but it doest usually efect NPCs so that power used against you by a NPC is unchanged and way more devistating. pvp for the feds in this game isnt very important why should those of us who never pvp suffer losses because a klingon says it isnt fair. the only answere is seperation. Seperate pvp from pve if those who love to pvp have their own place to play they wont bother those of us who want to pve. Then they can nerf all they want untill they are all running around carring plastic phaser guns that shoot foam darts and foam Bat' Leths with rounded points so noone looses an eye:eek:

They could do what Guild Wars did and have a pve and pvp variant of a skill. Then again, I guess that doesn't work without being able to change your attributes and skills whenever you want.

Yeah Cryptic Janewayed Sci players really good with the upcoming patch. I put my bets on 6 months or less and they will be unplayable.

Strongly agree - let's see the devs NOT take a tip out of WOW for a change....attempting to balance pve and pvp killed that game, simply having different skills for PVP like guild wars is the easy no hate way to solve problems.

I like Viral Matrix, Tykens Rift, extend shields etc for PVE but all are clearly way OP for PVP, so keep the PVE effect and nerf the PVP effect...

Don't nerf PVE - it's the worst thing you can do to **** off the player base since very few of us actually PVP but all of us are reliant on a large casual PVE playing base to sustain the game.

When was WoW killed? I think that would be on Drudge Report if it had happened.

All the above posters seem to focus solely on the nerfing of the players. There is not one mention that PvE has to be balanced around players AND computer generated and controlled opponents. They can balance PvP, and rebalance PvE by adjusting your AI playmates.

Its common in all newly released MMO's to have a 'balance passes'. Even in pve centric games like Lotro. I remeber when they changed Bard's Arrow from a walking stun to a walking mez beakable on damage, the hunters forums erupted in all sorts of threads about how and why we're being nerfed, its Unfair! etc etc.

I use to fly a science ship. Some of the skills, namely VM, made pve so RETARDEDLY easy, I now fly an escort. Yes....some skills do need a balance pass for PVE...good day sir

I think you have a fair point here elko - particularly with VM.

My issue was directly connecting the nerf of that skill, and skills like it to PVP, for reasons of attempting to balance that which can't be balanced.I may be getting old and jaded but this line of thinking inevitably leads to (and I stand by my euphemism though not ozzie's literalism) killing the fun in a game by pitching a PVP community against those who enjoy PVE.

There are enough hot tempers in any community. There's no need to create another firestorm. Guild wars doesn't...wow does. I hope the devs take a page from Guild War's book in this case.

What about us who love both? I mean, this is what is coming across to me: TRIBBLE PvP and leave my overpowered powers alone. When you play enough PvP, and PvE, you see certain powers create an unbalanced effect, and before long, even in PvE, same archetype, same BO powers, same weapons. That's too generic, boring, and no challenge, IMO. That is the fail of not nerfing. Example: I am guilty of this too - go into an open mission, and BOOM! Someone took out a battleship in three seconds. You ask what they are using and bam baby, you get the same powers.
