Mini-Games as puzzles for missions

Keeping it short, I'd like to see some sort of a minigame available as a puzzle during a mission. Perhaps they could be specific for classes? Here's some quick examples to give you a better idea of what I'm thinking.

Tactical Officer: Tetris style minigame. Keep the phaser banks from overloading during a system wide <insert catastrophic event here>

Science Officer: A bridge officer encounters a strange biological virus on an away mission. Fight it off in sickbay with your "laser surgical instrument" in this asteroids style game.

Engineer: Reroute power to safely avoid an overload and shipwide blackout in a minigame [similar to the one where the water is flowing through a tunnel and you have to add pieces to get it to flow to the goal]

I'm sure the community could assist in coming up with better simple games. Any suggestions? haha.

I think it would be a big step in getting away from the "goto the five waypoints and access monitors" missions.

Also, I think it would present us with obstacles more fitting to the Star Trek universe. :)

    Hello thatwalshguy,

There are a lot of players who regularly ask for minigames. I suggest you have a look at this thread and tell what you think : http://forums.startrekonline.com/showthread.php?t=124944

For now, Cryptic also announced that we will get a dabo minigame in June (like the game they play at Quarks) : not exactly the kind of minigame you're talking about but it should be interesting too.

or mini missions like Bio-Shock, or Star Trek Elite Force, when ur on the ground.

me think this will put some brain back into this game, although it will make it a bit more difficult, imo, for ppl, who just wants guns n glory and ranks, etc....where as puzzles would kind of make it more like the tv shows...

It seems to be the consensus that minigames should be skippable for a modest energy credits fee (as in Mass Effect 1) or even for free with a slight XP bonus if you complete them, the purpose being to make them easily skippable for the players who aren't into this kind of gameplay.

That sounds cool! At least a start.

I like the idea of it being skippable, too (for credits, etc.) Using Spikes in Knights of the Old Republic was always a good way to pass something if you were in a rush.
