( I meant to ask this in the Holodeck players forum since it happened in Holodeck, but I accidently post this in Tribble Shard's Forum of 'Reporing Bugs' instead first. Sorry Cryptic. My apology. )
I have to share this with all of you since I was disappointedly surprise that this thing that happened.
First, am an RA5 tactical officer with my choice of ships tier being Light Cruiser to Star Cruisers class. I knew 60700 skill caps would not allow for branching out my ship handling skills between classes, but anyway last Monday I bought an Advance Escort to well 'test drive' how it perform. After buying it I started making the new A/E ship my 'current', but realized I was missing a skilled Tactical officers with 'rapid fire cannons/etc.', so I went back to my Star Cruiser to make it current again and that was when I discovered that my inventory of ship's shields I collected somehow dropped in stats.
For example, I had an Uncommon Covarient Shield Array Mk IX [Ap] ( Adm lvl item ) with Stats: 6,375 Max Shield Capacity/ 128 Shield Regeneration every 6 seconds with Reduce Antiproton's Damage to shields by 20% with it's marked valued at: 53,200 Energy Credits.
Now you all know that Escort and Science Class ships are designed with less hull/shield strength/durability than Cruisers of their respective tiers in comparison with Cruisers, but Escorts is faster and much higher turning rate than Cruisers and Science has more special abilities respectively than cruisers.
Well, I didn't realize there's an in-game buggy effect of 'triggering' the shields' stats ( anywhere you check whether in spacedocks' ship equipments or in your inventory ) would change by dropping the stats. That same shield I mentioned above is now with this stats: 5,312 Max Shld Cap/ 106 Shld Regen every 6 sec.
Odd huh?
No, I didn't get this wrong since I do have a copied of this same character in the Tribbles' Shard that I signed up and downloaded a week ago to help Cryptic in becoming one of their play testers. My duplicate character in Tribbles has the original stats of my ship shields of my Holodeck's because I didn't buy an Advance Escort in it, so no such weird bugs that cause that change as it's original duplicate in the Holodeck.
I compared and wrote it down and it's very different now, and this affected all the shields' stats anywhere in Holodeck's Shard that I had checked.
My question is would it make any difference to make my ship shields more vulnerable to be 'put' in the weaker Escort's shields/hull category by this 'bugs', or will it not have any down side effect.
I would love to hear your thoughts on this for anyone that experienced this issue whether you're the first STO Beta tester or a recent STO player.
a bug thats been around for awhile now. its even more drastic change in stats if you buy a runabout at DS9. from what i could tell the only thing that fixes it is to level up and get the next tier ship.
Not sure if its a display only bug but from what i could tell was that even with the drop in stats my survivability stayed about the same.
This is a bug that forces the equipment to show the stats as compaired to the last ship you bought no matter what ship you use it on. The shield will show weakest on the escort and toughest on the science ship, but you get the normal affect for which ever ship you put it on even though you cant see the actual numbers.
If you want to test this out, buy a T5 science ship and put the shield on it and look at the numbers when you move it around afterward.
