stealth module

I played the Doomsday mission again as another character yesterday. This is the mission in which Klingons occupy a planet in the Imaga system in the Sirius Sector Block. They sure made themselves at home, too, with large buildings there. They did not take over buildings abandoned by others, since they have that Klingon look.

Anyway, my character is not a tactical officer in this case and so does not have the use of the kit that includes the stealth ability. The place is crawling with Klingons and with two of the three Doomsday missiles, after we fought the Klingons guarding the missiles, I did not want my BO's climbing all over the missiles and alerting other nearby Klingons to our presence, so I had my BO's stay in one place nearby in case trouble started, and I went over to the missiles to tag them for transport. I liked this approach and today I used it with the character I have used most of the time, a tactical officer.

I had the stealth kit, so I used it and went to scan several structures with enemies near them. I left my BO's nearby in case they were needed and I used the stealth module to get around the enemies (S'Relians I think).
At times, I thought one or two of them sensed something and they looked in my direction, so I think the stealth module is not perfect. Does anyone know if it provides absolute protection from being detected? I did not fire a shot in this mission and neither did my BO's and this made it a lot of fun.
