The Klingon content is coming out in Season 2 around Mid-summer?!? Are you nuts? This should have been ready at LAUNCH! Or at least devote equal time to both sides! This is completely ridiculous, you are giving players who only play Klingon very very little pve content and only a sector and a half of space to see. I PAY JUST AS MUCH AS THE FEDS!!! I WANT EQUAL GAMEPLAY!!!! MID-SUMMER IS NOT SOON ENOUGH!!!!!

*Face palm* Wow, impatient much? If you want to blame anyone, blame Atari for making Cryptic rush the game out.

From what I've read, Atari didnt MAKE Cryptic do anything, they OFFERED them a bonus to launch by a certain date. So they choice then was "do we want the money, or do we want to have a quality game at launch?". Sadly, the choice seems to have been to the detriment of the players.
I'm completely disinterested in assigning blame. I cannot believe they are releasing a "season" of content WITHOUT fixing the broken half of the game! This is a lot like washing a car that has a missing transmission!
The game is broken! Fix it! THEN polish it!
As was alluded to above, the game was meant to release after 2 years time from the beginning. They created an incredible amount of content for a 2 year development cycle. The Klingons were intended to be more PvP based from the beginning, but they have recently accepted the fact that players demand more PvE content, and they are working on it.
On thursday (Hopefully) Klingons will get Star Cluster missions as well as Fleet actions as a quick addition to hold players over. This is after less than 2 months of being released. It takes TIME to create content, particularly story based PvE episodes.
Patience. All good things come in time. Not yesterday.
Would it have been better off to hold off another year for release? Maybe. But wow, it takes time. Seriously.

Quite the necrotic stable around here. It's either this or the skillcap issues that's trotted out and beaten. No one has ever proven atari "forced" cryptic to do anything. Cryptic already had three mmo's on the fire and was claiming they could produce them in two years when atari bought them.

MMO players are an impatient bunch, they gots to have it NOW, you know, despite the fact that the game can be updated threw patches and such.

False. Two years ago, the plan was for Klingons to have "full PvE content":
However, as it got closer to the launch date the Devs realized they wouldnt be ready, so they decided to call the Klingons "PvP focused". The PvE content Klingons are going to be getting in the comming year isnt some favor the Devs are doing people, its just adding what they ORIGINALLY said the Klingons would have.
Now, if only they could get a real Q on the development team... *snap* *flash* OMG this is the longest most amazing MMO ever made! And in 2 seconds! WIN
? So now atari is evil for offering cryptic a bonus for releasing sto when cryptic claimed they could finish it?
Cryptic apparently couldn't get the deal done in time, its not the first time Atari did something to rush the game out, this happened the same way with the Ghostbusters game, despite the 9 month delay when Activision dropped it.

I said "more pvp based". Not entirely pvp based. The fact that it de-evolved into a purely pvp faction does boil down to lack of time. I'm not saying the end result was the intention from the beginning, but I don't think it's all that far from it.
I do remember in the early days of these forums though, when an overwhelming amount of players said that they would play a Federation character primarily for PvE, and a Klingon for more PvP focus. I was one of these guilty parties here. But I'm just assuming that the devs saw all that and took note, deciding to primarily focus on getting Federation PvE content into the game above all else.
Either way, the KDF was a misfire. Theres no disputing that. But the fact of the matter is that it takes time to create these things. Mid summer isn't very long at all for some content, considering.
I keep hearing how much time it takes to do this. Ya know what? Let them send me the code, I'll actually quit my day job and have it done next week. I'll even write a Linux native port so I don't have to boot to Windows or run WINE to play! It's just code, it isn't rocket science. All they need to do is focus on finishing the WHOLE product instead of just the part they want to polish and they'll have this done.

Well yes and no, if Cryptic was in a really bad place it might not have been much of a choice at all. Like choosing to stick to your morals and die or eat your recently frozen to death friend. Eating a human being, even a dead one, is a horrible thing, but if the choice is that or die cold and alone thousands of miles from home when you know a rescue party will be coming in two days...well...

What's funny about that? Do you know who I am? Are you using FireFox, Frostwire, Chromium or one of a thousand other Free Software applications that I've contributed code to?

Well, I personally still don't believe it, and I kinda doubt that programming browsers is the same as programming MMOs, but what do I know.
I still put the blame on Atari.
No, programming STO would be easier. With modern Mozilla and Firebird (later renamed Firefox) what we had was leftover code from the old Netscape-type browsers that were made for a much older internet. We pretty much had to start from scratch.
With this they have a game engine with a shiny GUI interface to add content. They don't even have to make new models (not that it would be difficult to do) all they have to do is give us copies of the same missions that Feds currently have with Klingon entry points. Like I said, a week... tops. I understand that many people are not coders and don't see through the whole "we need more time" facade, but some of us do. All this will take is focus.

Lesson: don't make claims you can't keep. Of course the guys up stairs are going to hold you to a deadline. Especially when that was one of your main selling points.

- Your proprietary Game Engine is a wonder, producing marketable MMO's quicker than anyone else. Good business model. Good for you, good for Atari. (it seemed)
- Your proprietary Game Engine is a wonder, producing marketable MMO's quicker than anyone else. Bad for meeting customer expectations. Bad for you, bad for Atari.
Jack Emmert recently said in an interview that Cryptic needs to start making better games. Start here. Don't do this again. We told you in closed beta the game did not feel ready for release. We told you not to have disparity between the factions. Next time listen and commit more time to add the features and content players expect.

Again, you should talk to Atari about that, they wanted it out by a deadline.

BAWAHAHAHAAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAH
and
good things come to those who wait

As I said, MMO players can get impatient. Personally, I think it'll be worth it once they do get the content up and running.
What's funny about that? Do you know who I am? Are you using FireFox, Frostwire, Chromium or one of a thousand other Free Software applications that I've contributed code to?
Proof plz.
That would lead to giving out personal information, which is against the rules. Trust me, I do NOT need more infractions.
However, each of the projects I mentioned has a list of contributors. It shouldn't be that hard to figure out if you look :-)

So again, basically the blame shifts to Atari.
