I am having a problem starting the application. The last successful timne I played was yesterday, 2010-03-22.
I started the application. On the line showing Patch progression it showed Connecting. I waited about 10 mins and also checked to ensure that I had a stable Internet connection using IE to connect to both Star Trek Online and MSNBC.
I closed the application. I then restarted the application. I am now stuck on the Cryptic Launcher Autoupdate. It has tried to connect 16 times so far.
I have had no crashes. I installed no maintenance to Windows. I last shutdown my system last night and just restarted it just prior to trying to launch the application.
The last date modified on my errors file is 2010-03-18 12:42 AM. My Game Client logs are from the previous day's game play.
I'm not sure I understand what you mean. I only have 1 login for this computer, no other users are defined to my computer. Also, this problem started today, it did not happen yesterday or since the time I did the initial install during Open Beta. If the issue was a permissions problem, it would have shown up immediatly since the Autoupdate runs each time the application is started.
power cycle the router/modem
make sure IE is not set to work offline (even if you use a different browser)
make sure your firewall/antivirus as not reflaged the changed programs as a new program requiring you to reauthorize it to access the net.

I'm having the same issue and as a former IT guy, I've done all the major checks including flusing the DNS cache (which you forgot).
Problem is not on this end and since others are experiencing it, the problem is obviously on Cryptic's end.

I beleive that it is an intermittent issue. Others have indicated that if they reboot or restart the application, the problem goes away. I didn't do anything other than close the application and restart it which supports, but does not confirm, that this is an intermittent issue.
