Yeah that what I did, Tac the most direct foward boring one anyway. True I'm only a LCDR 5 and all I have is sensor scan 2 but engineer on the other hand is the bomb.com
I rolled a science class officer and regret that I did not choose a tactical officer. Does anyone know if they will or plan to let you change classes?
I realise everyone here's saying 'no' ... without saying why. It's pretty simple. MMOs almost always let players change their spec. Players can change build within a given class. Indeed we're getting a respec function with the update.
But it's virtually unheard of for an MMO to allow people to completely change from one class to another. That just ain't done. If the devs were planning to do something that revolutionary, they'd have said so by now. They haven't.

Not completely.. starwars galaxies has that feature, however it has historical reasons there (the game kinda always allowed to change professions by learning different skills, so they had to add that feature after they changed the game into a class based game).

FFXI - You can make one character a Level 75 everything (12+ classes) and you can mix and match how they are played with Main/Sub combos. So not COMPLETELY unheard of but you're right usually you can't change classes willy nilly.
Gah! I made a Mage, and I wanted a warrior. Why do Blizzard not let you change character classes? Wah-wah, they told me I got to start a NEW character.
It's not fair, because of this, I'm cancelling my ST:O sub. That'll teach 'em
*NB: Everything in this post is fake. It is not to be taken seriously. If you do, then you are stupid, and have no sense of humour.
*NB: Apparantly, I also have no sense of humour. I admit that's true.

Why? Science officers are the most over powered class in game with SNB.
Um Sci Officer is the best class in STO atm lol. You shouldn't change-mega overpowered class
