Im progressing through the game reasonably well, and try the mission "trapped" and suddenly the game thinks i can handle 2, +1 hirogen battleships and about 6, 1+ seeker frigates ????? WTF ?????
I was on the mission SOLO...... i would need a bloodly fleet my own level to take that on, about 20 tetryon weapons and god knows how many plasma torpedos and viral matrixes all spamed directly at me.....
Thats just slopply game designing.... i mean every enemy in the area is about -3 to me and suddently due to this mission im fighting a Fing fleet of +1 with no chance of doing that mission for god knows how many levels..... how hard would it have been to add a small line of code to the game so that it detects when a player is solo in a mission so that it scales back the enemys to a reasonable level...... its not rocket science, games have been doing it for years......
To everyong who wants death penaltys in the game F you, if death penaltys come in the game will be sunk since it seems to be unblanced to hell......
If any cryptic devs take offence to this then..... ha ha... design a better fairer system !!!!
Ohh and if any smarty pants replys with "join a fleet" or "get more powerfull friends to help you".... TRIBBLE you..... most higher level people (well ones i have talked to) cant be bothered with the cookie cutter lower missions that they have already done !!!!
A trained monkey could spell "sloppy" correctly.....
wow you picked up on one typo i made.....congrats...... dictonary boy, you can read... and im so asheamed of my poor spelling i will have to go and kill myself out of shame for my countrys education system.... ohh woe is me.... whatever will i do now that im so embarrassed that i misspelled a word and every single person can see im stupid and all that..... hell crypic forget my entire rant because i miss spelled a single word !!!!! *cries into his pillow*
If you mean the number that appears in an enemys info box, then it was +1
While every other enemy in that sector of space is usually -1 to -3
sigh
Press the J button, look for the title of the mission, and tell me what the level of the mission is. Now, what's your level. If your level is less than the missions, problem solved. If not, then I don't know what's going on.
A missions "level" is often times referred to as a "challenge rating," as it rates what level you should be for proper balance.
Umm, well since your last two paragraphs pretty much told anyone who would help you to go TRIBBLE themselves, feeling is mutual. Good luck with the mission.

If that upset you, I would suggest not looking at all the grammatical errors in your OP. It would probably cause you to dive into a cone of ben and jerry's. It is free cone day, so that's a plus

I agree that a group of enemies like that would be excessive for solo play. However, consider the possibility that you encountered a bug or temporary glitch. When I did that mission, I never faced a group that size. I had no more than one battleship at a time and no more than three frigates at a time.
I can't remember what level the ships were. I was doing the mission same level solo, and didn't have any real problems with it.
I soloed this mission as well at the time, the ships I encountered were +1 or +2 but I dont remember having as much difficulty as you have stated. In fact, other than getting trapped in that mission, ironic as it is, I had no real problems bringing down the ships.
What class are you? Are you using a ship type befitting your class? Have you trained your BOs? Are you using your skills correctly? Are you equipped with green items?
I realize these questions seem redundant but as I said, myself and many others have completed this mission solo with little to no real difficulty. This tells me 1) the mission parameters have been changed however something like that would not only have been noticed by more players but probably noted on the official patch notice, or 2) the issue resides solely within your ship, crew and abilities.
Lets start with your ship equipment. Can you jot down what you currently have on your excort/scruiser/sci vessel?
EDIT: I, too, faced about 6 hunters and 2 battleships but not at once. Usually I had 3 hunters, then a battleship, then 3 hunters however, in the final battle, a battleship ran VERY close to where I was fighting the hunters. So close I had to lead them away a few klicks. Is it possible you merely dragged one group into the firing range of another?

ooohhhhh its cm 9, im cm 8........ i never knew about that... that bit of info will come in handy in the future... i always wondered how to tell when a mission was going to be overpowering and now i know thanks...... it would be nice if the game actually gave you that info before you take on the mission....a but anyways thanks again
Umm, well since your last two paragraphs pretty much told anyone who would help you to go TRIBBLE themselves, feeling is mutual. Good luck with the mission.
well its true..... im only going by what i have experianced, i have friends who are admirals and when i joined the game they were like "sure i will give you a hand if you need it" but when i actually needed help they were always busy talking to other admirals about "admiral stuff" or exploring DSE's to actually be bothered to give a hand !
Dont rely too heavily on the skill level of a mission, especially when its +1 or +2 to your level. Equipped and specced correctly you can still solo them. I remember competing RA0 and RA1 missions at Cpt 9 tougher? Sure. Impossible? Not hardly.
The borg, on the other hand, are tough even at RA 4

From what you and Preirin are saying it looks like it could be a glitch (wouldnt surprise me)
as for my ship, i am fully trained in cruiser and the heavy cruiser skills and heres what i have equiped
Front weapons : Tetryon beam array MK VI [acc] Dual disruptor beam bank MK VI Quantum torpedo launcher MK VI
Rear weapons : Disruptor beam array MK V[CrtD] Tetryon beam array MK VI Quantum torpedo launcher MK V
Shields : Coveriant shield array MK VI [tet]
Engine : Efficiant impulse engines MK IV
Deflector : Graviton deflector array MK V [em]
In engineering consoles i have one thats +8.8 in physical and kenetic resistance and one thats +11 in phaser, disruptor, plasma & tetryon resistance
Ohh and i have a tactical console thats +17 to all beam weapons
Ohh one question could being in a team TRIBBLE up the amount of enemys you face, usually i am in a team with 2 or 3 other people, we are from different fleets and use teaming to talk to each other easily... even if we are not in the same area or mission we are still teamed......could that be affecting the mission ?
LFG open teams and yes i will say it, join a fleet. in my fleet we help out our lower level memebers whenever they ask. so its sortof a good/bad thing that theres not much to do at RA5 hehe. just gotta get into a good fleet, sorry you had such issues with selfish people.
Hmm, I've pretty much solo'd all 3 of my characters and I am sure at least my scientist in my science vessel solo'd that with little trouble. Of course by the time I hit that they might have been all -1 to me. I might be wrong though as sometimes me and my fiance team up and play together for a while. But for the most part we solo'd our way to Admiral.
What level was the mission ? What level were you ? If you can recall that is. I try to do missions that are the same level or 1 level below me to make them comfortable seeing as my skills are in survivability more than power. Hmm, maybe the skill set up could explain my survivability there as well.
Edit:
Oh and yes, if you are teamed all members of that team need to be in the same zone as you or the enemy will be too powerful. It assumes all group members are with you ( from what I could see in Beta anyway ) and powers itself accordingly. It is one of the reasons I avoid Open Teaming unless I need to or feel like it.

There it is.
The system sees you are in a team.. whether or not your teammates are there is irrelevant, it seems. Also, the instance sets its difficulty for the highest ranking teammate.
Try it again, solo, in no team other than an instant (if anyone else is there) and you should see different results.

Yes. That would do it. The mission scales to your team size whether your teammates joined you in the mission or not.

That would be nice, but, meh. Now you know. Just do the missions in order of their challenge rating, and you'll be fine.
Left my team and went into the mission and just fought 4 seeker frigates and that was it, they seemed much less agressive as well, barely put a dent in my shields
Thanks for all your help and sorry for the attitude earlier.... im sure you can imagine dying 10 times in a row is enough to make someone a bit peeved off.......and it explains why i figured the game was brutally hard..... ohh well at least i got tons of experiance out of it
On a side note anyone know a good way to chat to people from different fleets in an easy grouped way ? (we could be all over the maps)

Well, unless you coordinate with others via fleet chat or vent, not really. At least, not en masse. You could use tells (just hit backspace to reply to the most recent tell) but that will only allow you to talk to one at a time.
Whatever happened to the in-game communications system, anyway?
Glad we were able to diagnose the issue here. Dont be afraid to take on missions a few levels higher than you. A challenge is always good

These things happen, i've had them happen to me, I just warp out and do the mission later when/if I get other PC's in the same instance.
You could always go 'looking for group'.

+1's aren't that difficult, I can take on three +1 BOP's fairly easily in my H/Cruiser.

Yes. That would do it. The mission scales to your team size whether your teammates joined you in the mission or not.
Yep, unless they are going into the same instance as you, best to go in not in a team.
Agreed. And yes, good luck with that.
