In the latest engineering report I asked about Random Space encounters and Dsthal was kind enough to reply with the fact they were entertaining the idea of "found" missions. Suggesting they were missions you would get by being in the right place at the right time. I think this concept is awesome and wanted to do two things with this post.
1) Bring it to the attention of the community since it could be easily missed.
2) Provide a few ideas for mission types that would fit the category and the lore of Star Trek
Ideas:
1) Distress signals. There is already one of these in the Sirrius sector. Sadly it is the only one. Please more of these would be awesome. Variety would help thought don't make them all "kill the bad guy ships and save the day". How about some where we have to beam down and find survivors in a nautral disaster on isolated colony world. Or perhaps destroy a rogue comet to keep it from destroying a planet.
2) Temperol and spatial rifts: This would be a great place to put missions involving time loops and wormhole type missions. They are part of lore and I would really love to see them in the game.
3) Personally just a few exploratory type missions without combat would work here: the asteroid ship from TOS or the Dyson sphere from TNG both come to mind as excellant example of missions to fit in this category.
