Why Pay?

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
I think at this point the game should be free. I feel that I have been promised something epic and got a cut copy and paste mission scheme. I feel that I have paid for 6 months of wasted money and if the expansion is as lame as the release I will definately not buy it. Cryptic can turn any game into CoH with the open the door to the building and run the same type of mission over and over and over again!.

"Free?" This is an awesome game and just the license itself costs money, let alone the people working there.

Exactly, why pay? If you don't like the service, choose another game. Free Enterprise! Free Willy!

I pay, cause for a measly ten quid a month I get to fly an internet spaceship in the Star Trek universe.

If I didn't think it was worth my money I wouldn't pay, cause to pay for something that I didn't think was worth the money would be very TRIBBLE.

Yeah. Considering that EQ was 15 dollars CND a month 13 years ago, and with inflation we should be charged alot more.
15 dollars is 15 minutes of "work".

I said the same thing at the restaurant last night after I finished eating. I felt I was promised an epic meal, but only got the meal that was on the menu.

The police got involved. It was unpleasant.

Why pay? Would you work for free? Would you be willing to develop all the content by yourself for no money? I would not expect cryptic to continue working on the game or developing new content for free......right? I mean....that would just be.......greedy? Wouldn't it?

Oh well if you think the game is free, I'm sure Atari will get right on that.

As for something epic, well you'll always have this thread.

Yes, if you don't like the game, you shouldn't be p[l]aying it. Of course, they can't make the game "free" because they couldn't pay for the bandwidth and servers they need to keep the game up.

It's like buying dinner at a restaurant, if you don't like the cost you can choose not to go there for dinner. But they won't start giving food away just because some people don't like the menu.

Yes indeed, because the world owes you whatever you want for free, devs can just replicate themselves a paycheck and servers grow on trees, which is why they are called 'server farms' presumably... meanwhile back in the real world...

Well, something free is worth exactly what you paid for it.

Game needs work, for sure, but has potential. But free play? nah

Im not playing much right now, waiting for the massive lists of updates, to come down the pipe. and Im referring to the season one, two, and the un announced three. Cryptic still hads my sub, because I see soo very much potential in this game and its needs support. sure its got its issues right now, and was realeased too early content-wise, but I can see this becoming something truly awesome. But for that to happen they have to pay the bills.

It's not about what the OP thought we would get but really what was promised. I say promised because all the rage from the dev's and spokespersons all said it was going to have this or that not well maybe we'll get this in there or mebee that.

I get a steak off the menu the way I want or they won't get their money. Don't know if some of the pro current state sto fans just take whatever the corporate shoves down their throats and be happy but like my steak, it'll be done right or there should be some sort of compensation to offset the TRIBBLE.

Can't tell if we're being sarcastic or not but I agree a reduced price or no price until we actually get the product we were promised and not one that jack or cryptic thought they promised. Who knows maybee they had a different vision than we did, this really isn't star trek besides the thin coat of pew pew.

Word of advice on the bugs, mebee do a bunch of game breaking ones and 1 or 2 aesthetic ones. Take the time to get it done right and give honest tba timelines of completion. Right now a lot of bugs are supposedly getting worked on and it's right on time within a 2 week period gives enough leeway.

I am a lts so i feel totally ripped off. Wishing I can convert this lifetime to coh/v, at least that game I enjoyed. Thats a different story altogether why.

Biggest issue I've seen is content shortage, and they've made it clear more is coming. They keep doing regular updates and increases, I've got no beef because the content so far has been pretty good.

One doesn't need to be Chief Scientist of The Rocket Patrol to understand this: Free game = no money to pay people to design, implement and debug new content.

Free games can be more profitable than subscription games.

500% increase is substantial... Plus they're releasing another update shortly.

I downloaded DDO last night and played for a bit. Reminds me of AoC at level 1 but not as nice looking. While creating a character there were a couple that cost money so didn't try those but kind of neat so far for free :D
STO should have launched f2p imo.
