I got this as part of the deal when I purchased my game.

It takes a Tactical Console slot on my ship and says 45 Plasma Damage.

Thats the only description.

Can anyone tell me what this acctually does?
Is it usefull in higher level ships?

    Yes. It tends to prioritize incoming torpedoes, shooting them down before they can hit you. 45 plasma damage (modified by your skills) is usually enough to take out a Heavy Plasma Torp, for example.

    Yes, it's a turret that fires automatically at any incoming torpedo or ship if close enough. I personally always use it until I get something that gives real benefit for that slot

    Ya its great when you are starting out. no means does it help on DPS. great for stopping those big plasma torps tho... i think around Commander it goes into the bank to make room for other mods...

    I'm still using it at Captain. Though it's usefulness is low right now... Cardassians and Jem'Hadar don't use Plasma torps.

    It also fires on cloaked enemys in range (can be an extra level of detection in PVP) and metrion gas clouds (can by a lyability of you don't realize it's doing it and get too close).

    personally i've had a hard time taking it off my ships so far, though I expect once i get clear of romulan space it'll probably be of less value to me.

    I had this on my vessel till I hit captain and I loved it. I never had to worry about targetting incoming romulan heavy torps (and it even did pretty good at taking out mines if they were laid near me)

    From Captain onwards torpedos don't worry me and I can get much better use out of a consoles in the tactical slots but until then it was a great little perk!

    I'm still using it at RA 5. It stops mines dead in their tracks.

    well how it works in game

    Takes 1 tactical slot

    range is 5 KM

    Great for taking out Energy Syphens, Fighters, Heavy Plasma Torpedos

    Great for uncloaking ships within range 4 KM



    Drawbacks..

    it locks on to a target.. so you have to adjust your play style and keep outside range 5 from enemies if possible.. if it locks on an enemy ship.. it won't break off enemy ship to shoot other things.. so if it locks on enemy ship and there is incoming heavy plasma torp.. the torp is going to hit you.

    rate of fire.. every 3 seconds


    so it is up to you on what you want to do.. to me, it is worth it in Rom / Reman space and vs the borg.. knocking out the plasma.

    I really want this =( what's the best way to get it? (IE: cheapest) since I already bought multiple copies

    It comes as part of the Digital Deluxe Edition of the game (download version)

    Available at Gamestop website, Atari Website, Direct 2 Drive website, Steam website..

    It isn't sold individually.

    Because i like to get stuck in close mine normally starts taking out enemy mines they like to chuck out

    I am using it as a Tac console on my Prometheus class, it's a nice addition.

    Just one little bit of advice:


    UNEQUIP THAT THING BEFORE YOU GO TO THE BRIAR PATCH!

    That is the last place you want to learn that thing is working. Trust me on that. ;)

    That place and when you face the Crystalline Entity but by then you should know to unequip it.
