Interesting. Right off the bat you state that only people who are intelligent enough to add 2+2 will be able to come to the same conclusions as you. Therefore, anyone who has a contrary opinion is obviously lacking in intelligence and thus not to be listened to.

Xfire is BS. Only a few people use it overall. The numbers you get are innacurate.

The only question you should ask yourself is, "Am I having fun?" If yes, play the game. If no, go find something else fun to do. Stop worrying so much about who is doing what.

I figured the first person to post would attempt a derail and not see the true point to this thread. For you not to understand that over 7500 a day to 7 a day regardless of Xfire is a factor, you sir are an idiot.

Everyone ignore the troll, and please post your suggestion.

The end is nye? Thank God I have 8 months to prepare!

Listen, I personally don't know anyone that uses Xfire - and if there were ever that many users then it would have been during the Headstart and trial month where everyone knew there was going to be a spike in players which nobody ever expected to stick around. And pre-empting anyone down-playing the significance of x-fire but insulting their intelligence in advance won't win you any medals here.

The game has "well over 100k subscribers" which apparently exceeded Crpytics expectations so I think doom posts are a little premature.

That said, my suggestions are: additional factions, additional ships, more costumes, more playable races, improved skill tree (still with skill cap) additional levels beyond RA5, improved crafting and improved Exchange, more varied missions with a robust diplomacy aspect and some nice end game.

All of which they are working on, apparently.

I let my analytical mind and good faith get the best of me.

People can never just do as the OP ask's. All I had was good intentions...but whatever.

Thanks dark oberon for being somewhat understanding of what I am attempting here.

High level content that allows character progression in a solo and group setting. Farming 5th order badges-marks of honor-marks of valor dose not count as character progression!

I have a pretty big friends list. Most of them have been offline too long to be anything other then having quit.

Yes, you had a good idea but the information you present is not accurate representation

Yes, the game needs work. The game needs more content. Is the sky falling, no.

Xfire as well as something like Gamespy is not a good judge of any MMO metric.

Its a lesson for you. If your intention is to gather game feedback; just post a feedback thread or join in with the many existing ones which the devs are already paying attention to.

Many people have never heard of xfire and do not accept it as a measure of a games success.

If you begin your feedback thread in the style of a baseless DOOM post then clearly you will not be helping yourself get the responses you want.

There is also an xfire bug where xfire itself does not recognize sto is being played. My friend and myself still play STO regularly and both use xfire. This past week xfire has not noticed when I log into sto. Now if we make up 2/7ths of the entire xfire community . . . . i guess oh well, but thats highly doubtful. . . I think your stats are bogus.

Hmm, I know of people in my fleet that used Xfire. Seems like last week sometime there was a problem between Xfire and STO. They still play but without Xfire. So whats your point?

you cant bring up a point then ask people not to comment or suggest they are derailing it. you opened the door so its fair game.

also suggesting that people who disagree are stupid is not going to endear people towards you

i dont even know what Xfire is so but doing a little looking around suggests its is a bug. even if it was not whilst the drop would appear to be massive it does not tell us anything about how other people are playing the game so any conclusion drawn from it means next to nothing

to answer the question the one things that would really help, or two things really would be several fully fleshed out factions and some proper end game pvp between the multiple factions with attackable and defendable systems

OP... In your first post you mention close to 10K people using Xfire were online everyday. Then in your second post you state that it's >7500. That's already close to 25% drop just between your two posts. Some analytical mind you have. Seems like you are the one having trouble adding 2 and 2 together right there.

Of course this is all besides the fact that Xfire is utter nonsense.

If you want to attack people on their intelligence you should at least start with giving consistent information (whether you skew the numbers or not, doesn't even matter in that regard)

To be honest, titling the thread "the end is nye" reeks of drama.

Anyways, weather you are right or not, there is no way in hell you are going to make your point using x-fire. The graph may very well show people getting rid of x-fire, rather than STO.

I know when I accidentally installed x-fire because I wanted to play a game, after playing a few times I uninstalled x-fire & played the game by itself.

See? Just as I said. Anyone who doesn't agree with your spurious point isn't 'intelligent' enough to be listened to and should just shut up, according to you.

Xfire is a joke. In CO as well as other games people have tried to use it to prove that a game is dying and it has been wrong each time. The bottom line is, Xfire ONLY shows how many XFIRE users are playing. Most people do NOT use it. Therefore, it is not an accurate representatiion of a game's numbers.

Oh, give us a break. You don't start out a post by saying anyone who doesn't agree with you is stupid and THEN go on to say you had good faith etc etc. You posted in an inflamatory way to get an inflamatory reaction; rather then try to explain what your 'point' was better, you lashed out with personal insults. Get off your cross, you're not a martyr and you're fooling no one.

QUOTE=AtomicFB]Yes, you had a good idea but the information you present is not accurate representation

I would agree that the game needs work. Luckily, the devs ALSO agree and are working on the game. Now, if the OP wanted suggestions on how to make the game better, that's all well and good. Plenty of threads abound already, including a thread that the devs have asked people to put suggestions in since they're following it. But honestly, I don't think that's what he really wanted. Let's face it, starting a post by posting spurious information then basically saying anyone who doesn't agree with you is stupid isn't exactly the most conducive way to debate an issue. I think he's just trying to create net drama.

Your "analyitcal mind" must not have the capacity to figure out that Xfire is in no way a commonly used tool by a given MMO community. Your "analytical mind" should have done research behind the percentage of STO subscribers that actually use Xfire.

And your "good faith" would actually be truthful if you hadn't framed your position by insulting the intelligence of anyone who might disagree before they even posted.

    Get over yourself.

    Both sides make valid points.

I am indeed convinced that the general pattern of STO users (although in reality probably different in shape) mirrors that Xfire statistic. Let's remember that polls are not conducted with 100% of the population. I think we can all agree there's been a general drop-off of subs, as well as a decline in incoming subs as opposed to the early days.

Although I think this it's important to note(as has been said by others) that Xfire is not a common tool for MMO'ers and therefore it could be exaggerated. I do think it would be hard to argue however that Cryptic is getting loads of new customers after STO's issues have had more time in the light and the vital updates have yet been released to fix them.

Some of you don't think of this as an accurate representation of the games current course. Those of you who have some sort of intellegence can put 2 and 2 together and get this:

If between Feb 24th and March 4th there was close to 10,000 people playing through xfire per day, and now current day, there is....7 people playing per day. Then obviously the people who havent been playing while using xfire have seen the same drop.

Regardless if some people will say "Not everyone uses Xfire", this sort of thing can't go unnoticed. To deny this as proof of the nosedive, would be as Spock would say "Ilogical".

    HOWEVER

This thread isn't here to show only this. This thread is here for people to give GOOD SOLID direction to Cryptic, to help them revive the game. What we need here, are fixes that could immediately revive the game.

So I want each person to post just a single big thing, that would fix this game.

I don't want this game to die, I am a huge Star Trek fan, as are a lot of gamers. For Cryptic to fail in making this game work, they would have the proverbial tomato thrown at them by the gaming world. For the most part, they would be finished as sad as that sounds.

So, For my suggestion. I suggest you add more diversity to the game immediately. Get rid of any pigeon holing aspect in the game. Make all ships have universal slots, get rid of all classes "Tac/Sci/Eng". Instead of classes, fix the kits so they add bonuses to specific "Class sets" as they do now, BUT make it so we can choose our 4 skills in whatever order we want. Add the skills from Engineer/Science/Tactical trees to everyones skill tree, so we can pick and choose whatever we want.

THis will allow people to be whatever "Class" they feel like. The only thing that can make us the same as another person after that is the KITs that we can wear, and even then the kits would provide bonuses and not the abilities themselves.

In a nutshell what I'm saying is, make us as characters into BOFF's in the sense of picking abilities.

PUT YOUR SUGGESTION IN BLUE TEXT!

No arguing or trolling in here, lets get this done people chop/chop!

Stop predicting the end of the world...not gonna happen.

    Have you looked here?
    http://zhtw.xfire.com/forums/182686/topic/1595966/?p=2

Have you bothered to see how many people seem to have this very issue with Xfire not working and since when this issue seems to have increased in magnitude?

In addition does this sound familiar?
"[Insertname of Instant Massenger} will soon no longer be available for free.
But you can help keep it free if you copy this message and send it to 10 or more people in your "Friends" list."

So you believe that IF there were such a drastic drop in players interested in this game this specific thread could save the game?
With all due respect I find that highly unlikely and I suggest you reconsider your own capabilities.

Describes the OP to a T, first one thread will not save trek for devs, they have dedicated threads for exactly this purpose, don't waste their valuable time by making them split time between threads.

Secondly, this further describes the OP for thinking anyone who disagrees with his already proven not to be so analytical mind to be stupid. So far...I only see evidence of as the OP put it, stupidity, in only one example.....despite his good intentions, the first post, and his reply to first replier.
