Is there any back story for this??
I got my TRIBBLE handed to me fast too.

You'll come across a number of missions involving the mirror universe very soon. So yes, there is story for this.

As cool as it is to have the mirror universe in the game, I have to say that it's one of my biggest dislikes when it comes to the story. Very poorly done IMO, right along with Hirogen in Romulan Space

Yes, at Captain level 6 you find out about them . .after fighting them for 5 levels.. a bit out of order as was mentioned in another thread a while ago.

There have been Mirror Universe episodes and novels since TOS. My personal favorites are TOS episode Mirror Mirror and the Enterprise 2 parter In a Mirror Darkly. Here is a link to TOS episode on CBS.com

I think the story was done well. You run into them early on and think 'who are these guys?' then you find out more and more about the whole deal.

Agreed, and it fits so well with the actual series.
