Rare tribbles and federal klingons

i have a fed klingon and the special edition tribble (for the dde) and i'm not sure if the tribble works or not, when i try to use it it screeches and yells at me and from what i can tell i don't get a buff? >_> though when i used it a few times with low health my heal weas recovered but if this wasthe tribble or my science officer i'm not sure >_<
now i know klinks don't get tribbles on the klingon side, and i know that canonly speaking klingons and tribbles hate each other because they "smell funny" but can anybody confirm weither or not the tribbles work for a federation klingon?

also if the tribble doesn't work i feel i should be compensated slightly by not being able to use something i went out and payed extra money just to obtain... i'd be content with being able to summon the klingon tarq on my fed klingon

Tribbles do not work for Klingons. If you did get a buff, it would appear as three small tabs under your character portrait, but as a Klingon you will never see these.

The only Klingons that tribbles work for are Liberated Borg. For some reason, the Borg changes to Klingon DNA means they are no longer classified as fully Klingon, at least as far as the tribbles are concerned.

One thing I wonder though. Why do the tribbles also seem to hate Orions and Gorn and pretty much any KDF species? Really, this hatred should be restricted to Klingons only, as that is the canon of it.

i was under the impretion that the KDF side cannot get tribbles at all and it was a fed only thing... similar to how KFD's get a lil mini targ pet but the feds do not.....

it's kind of disappointing that i cannot use my tribble, especially after paying for it. it seems to be kind of unfair. just because i'm a klingon i can't use a tribble, and just because i'm a fed i can't use a KFD only item? so i'm losing at both ends....

so your saying that it's cannon for none of the KDF forces to be able to use a tribble, but yet everybody on the fed side EXCEPT klingons be able to use a tribble AND all klingons beable to use a targ EXCEPT those on the fed side?

KDF can get tribbles too now that we have Exploration missions (although I really think these should be called Conquest missions or Loyalty missions or something like that). These are on Tribble (Test) right now, but they'll be live before long.

Also, if you play on both sides you can Mail tribbles to your KDF alts from you Fed characters. That's what I did. I wanted to use them for my Gorn and Orion crewmen, but the tribbles appear to think that they are Klingons too.

You can still use your Best Buy* tribble. Give it to one of your Bridge Officers. They can use the buff normally as long as they are not Klingon.

*The Special Tribble and Targ pets were actually a Best Buy pre-order item and were not part of the DDE package, but due to a bug during launch many players that did not order the game from Best Buy were able to get the bonus. If you did not purchase from Best Buy, that is why you have these pets.

Edit note: The KDF side does not get the Best Buy Tribble. They cannot select it and it cannot be Mailed. The KDF are only allowed to choose the Targ pet from the CStore. The tribbles I am saying they have access to here are of the normal varieties in the game.

    sorry, cant pass it up

    learn to spell Canon :p

ok that aside, shouldnt there be a factional flag that can override the tribbles base instincts? sure its not canon, but its fair to not penalize a player for buying something from the c-store

or is there a targ pet for fed klinks?

No, they should not bypass canon to allow Federation Klingon captains to use tribbles regardless of their species. They should however change the CStore selection so that if you are playing a Klingon on the Federation side you can get the Targ pet instead. This should reflect on the KDF side as well. So, if you play an Orion or Gorn or (gasp) Joined Trill, you can select the tribble instead.

The choice allowed should be based entirely on species, instead of faction.

If you think federal klingons have tribbles all mad and screeching at them, just wait until you reroll a state or local klingon. Then it's really up close and personal, though as some say, all klingons are local.

Um DDE didn't come with a Tribble/Targ.. the Exclusive Bonus Item from Best Buy gives the Tribble/Targ. Some account codes were messed up at launch and gave the wrong bonuses.. if you got the Tribble/Targ bonus and didn't buy from Best Buy, then count yourself lucky.

Klingons are natural enemies of Tribbles.. as such, it remains true to Trek Lore that Klingons shouldn't get Tribble Buffs.. Even Worf couldn't stand to be around them in the "Trouble with Tribbles" TOS tie in DS9 episode. Tribbles screamed around him instead of cooing.

Also you can equip your Tribble to any of your BO's and they will get the buffs.. find / breed rare tribbles and equip all your BOs.

It is just a canon thing keeping with the IP of Trek.. Klingons shouldn't get the benefits of Tribbles (allowing the healing is even stretching it).

As for Compensation.. I don't see why Klingons on the Fed side couldn't use the Targ Pet from the Best Buy Pre-Order bonus.

Because the Klingons maintained peace with the Federation for so long that many of them became accustomed to Federation life. Also, many of them are half-Human or half-Betazoid. Get over it, man. The Federation does not discriminate against a species simply because their home world is at war with them.

If Worf had a choice between serving the Federation or going to war against them, he would choose the former rather than the latter.

Actually, it did. I bought the DDE and got the Tribble and Targ. And this was weeks after the launch. This was directly from Atari. If I remember correctly, its listed with the DDE.

It is not listed as a part of the DDE package. You got it by mistake. The bug that allows this is still ongoing.

your correct it isnt listed, my mistake. But i noticed that it lists joined trill. Which I didnt get for some reason. They may have switched the tribble/targ over to replace that. As I got everything else.

Are you sure you don't have access to the Joined Trill? Note that it is not available on the Klingon side yet (they're working on that), but if you start a new Federation character you should have that option.

Not long after activating it, I checked the Cstore and created a Trill Character to see if I could build it in there. It was locked.

That and a fair number of them immigrated to the Federation during the hundred years the Federation and the Klingon Empire were at peace. A decent number of the Klingons serving in Starfleet come from Klingon Families and Houses that are Federation Citizens.

Besides what is the Federation supposed to do with all the Klingons that live in the borders? Round them up and put them in internment camps just because the Federation is at War with the country they come from. Like that went over well back in WWII with the Japanese internment camps. The Federation learns from history, they are not going to repeat the mistakes from the past.

They still make mistakes, look at Insurrection. They were going to force the Bak'u out of their home just so the Federation could get its hands on a way to prolong life.

I bought the DDE as well..

    DDE comes with in package

    Joined Trill Captain
    Khan Emote
    Bloodwine Emote
    NX Hull Registry
    Tactical Console Auto Defense Turret
    TOS Uniforms

    the Pre-Order Bonus Items were

Atari - 500 Cryptic Points <--- what I got with Cryptic / code error
    Best Buy - Tribble/Targ pets
GameStop - TOS Constitution <--- what I ordered (got it after putting in a ticket)
    Target - T-116 Assault Rifle
Amazon - Liberated Borg Bridge Officer
    D2D - Multi-Spatial Personal Shield
Steam - Chromodynamic Body Armor <---- What I got with Cryptic / code error
Wal-Mart (didn't have DDE) - 500 bonus skill points above the 60700 cap.

Now Atari has offered 90 days game time and an EMH Console, but never a Tribble/Targ pet option.. if you got that, there was an error with your game key.. as such, it was a bonus by accident for you.

Since you are missing the Joined Trill in your character creation screen.. send Cryptic billing a ticket from their support page on the main STO site with a copy of your reciept for the DDE and I am sure that they will fix your account.. they won't take away your winfall of the Tribble/Targ pets.
