Trade A Code?

This question is to the Devs, or anyone who can point me in a direction where this issue has already been stated, or at least anyone with views upon this issue...

I bought the STO Collector's Edition, and love the Next Gen Uniforms but have always wanted the TOS Uniforms.A couple of people I have meet bought the Digital Deluxe Edition, but have expressed interest in the Next Gen Uniforms I got.

Question: Would it be legal to trade Codes rather than buying another copy of the game? That way both parties can enjoy the game they love with the uniforms they want?

It is important to keep in mind that this is not a sell transaction, nor does this question imply any form of money making process. I am talking about a peaceful trade amongst the Community of Players for mutual benefit. Might also relieve some stress upon the Devs so that they don't have to worry about demand for bonus items in the C-Store, leaving room for better items in the C-Store.

You can go buy Becket MMO Gamer magazine and get a code for TOS uniforms. The magazine is only 5 or 6 bucks.

I believe those codes are a one time use item. Once you have actiated it no one else will be able to.
I haven't tested those codes you listed, but some of the codes they have I know work this way.

MMO serial keys are always a one-time use item, once used to activate an account they're bound to that account. Anyone else entering the same key will get a 'code already in use' or 'invalid code' error.

This is easily the best way to get the TOS uniforms at this time. I found the magazine at Wal-Mart up the street from me for $6, and I love my new TOS uniforms. My ground crew looks HOT in those new skirts.

Yeah, I figured the codes worked that way, but I wasn't sure. As for the Magazine... I had heard of it and I will be picking up a copy. I was mostly asking to see if it were possible to do such. At any-rate... Thanks for the information and Live Long and Prosper...

Issue 24, it has Spock's face on the cover. It's a pretty crummy magazine to be truthful, but the code is worth the price paid. I couldn't find it at Barnes and Noble, or Gamestop near me, just Wal-Mart. A picture of the issue can be seen here:

I went to Wal-Mart after work today, because I recalled seeing it there, but it was no longer there. So then I go to Target... Nope. Winco? Nope... At 10:00PM where I am, there's no other option really... I may just have to wait and hope they become C-Store Items.

Just in case someone thinks this is a good idea, just remember that if either party is a scammer and gives you a used or bogus key we will not help you and you will simply be out the copy of the game you purchased. End of story.

The Walmart near me ran out also.

I have a developer autographed box, I'm willing to trade it for an atari digital deluxe edition key so I can get all 3 of the TOS uniforms and also the automated defense battery (far more useful that I previously would have thought)

At which point they will post a lengthy diatribe on the forums about how stupid and evil the devs are and it's ALL the dev's fault for not making sure scammers had been erradicated from the face of the earth and they didn't like the game anyways and yadda yadda yadda finally ending in a broken, ragged gasp of tears about how unfair the world is.

In other words, just another normal day in the forums! <LOL>

Edited to add this...for some reason I'm reminded of the person who walks into the police station to complain about being sold bad dope. They are always SO surprised when they get arrested to...

Thanks for the information, and don't worry, I am only looking for something legit. I mean, that is okay by any rules or regulations. However, I must say that I am a little confused by the statement made... Are you to say that if I were to receive (be it purchase or given) a code from someone, then it turns out to be bogus, that I will lose my legit (store bought and subscription paid for) copy of the game?

As for the purchasing of codes or game keys from anyone other than a certified retailer or Cryptic itself... I am in no way stupid. I know a lot of people who either are, or they allow their desire for such items to cloud their judgement, who will stupidly purchase something from an "unofficial" source. I, for one, am not so moronic, as I will never put money into anything I don't know to be legit.

The only time this practice has failed me was today, when I bought a $250 camera and it malfunctioned and broke the first five minutes! Now I have to return it tomorrow. I must say such a thing has annoyed me and I was not happy, but if I were to walk into a situation and buy a code, key, or game from an "unofficial" source... Well then I deserve whatever I blindly paid for. Lucky for me, I don't blindly pay for things... Just get screwed by the "Official" guys instead. lol Ironic...
