I have played since the launch of the game and with the exception of server crashes the program itself on my computer has not crashed even once. That is until this patch things that has been happening, ever since the uploada or whatever I have had in avg 8-10 crashes a day during pvp arenas. I lose points since when i log back into the game im in limbo for 5 minutes until the game recognizes that im in arena and starts me over again.
I do not know what is wrong, I am not doing anything different than before, this all started since the message that there was a "crash fix" done and so I believe that this crash fix may have solved it for some but have made it so it starts crashing for others.
I would not mind as much the crashing had this been the first week or even beta, but its not. Its over a month into the game.
I for one seek retribution for the loss in skill points for the matches I have spent someone 20 minutes into and I would be very pleased if someone where to reset things back to where it was before the patch uploads both the 16mb and the 2gb ones.
Ever since I have been back, I have been crashing in similar areas - Random Enemy Battles (The Patrol Missions). Not sure if it's related to this issue, but I haven't had any crashes expect in those areas, though I haven't tried a fleet action or a PVP arena, so it may happen to me in those as well.
Hmm, although the big prepatch shouldnt affect anything in your Live install folder, you never know - so the first thing I suggest doing is forcing the launcher to verify your game install to see if anything is broken. In the launcher click Options -> tick the box 'force verify', then press OK. You might have to click a button or restart the launcher to start the verification process if it doesn't start immediately.
If the verification comes up clean, the next thing to look at is your drivers. Are you running the latest drivers for your sound card and graphics card? If not try upgrading to the latest ones. If you are using an Nvidia card and you currently have the latest drivers, try doing a rollback to some older drivers.
I don't know how thorough the verification process is - normally as a third step, if nothing else works I'd suggest doing a clean reinstall of the game, but if the verification process is thorough then this might not make any difference.
Another thing to try is running the game in 'safe mode'. See if you still crash then.
I keep getting server not responding all day today, If i do log in it's so jumpy i cant play, now i know there was maintanence due but this is terrible and is ruining my enjoyment of the game my computer is well over spec to play the game it's just the TRIBBLE servers criptic are using!
I was in windows 7 and it was time to wipe and reload. I decided to go back to XP so i could squeeze a little more juice out of my machine. I do the first download, fine, very reasonable amount of time. But then a second download starts thats over 7 gb and downloads around 100-150kb it seems and starts to patch. When i finally get in i get a " Fatal Error: Error decompressing data " message. I tracked it down and the fix was to delete the hogg fies all 355mbish worth. Well the re-download clocks in over 1.5gb and once that is done coming in at 100ish kbps i get the same error.
Now im installing for the 3rd time, which has taken steady attention over 36hours so far ( happened to be my days off ).
Please open the bandwidth to your download servers sirs. -.-
I keep crashing or game just freezes. System windows 7 64 bit, E6600 duel core over clock to 3.0ghz.4 gigs of ram. evga 9800gt card. I just can't fig it out at all, game played fine to all the patching started. Graphics card run from 49c to 55c. cpu temp is about 48c. hard drive 500gb western digital with 400gb free space. So whats the deal any could help me.:(
nice to see i not alone with this issue... i have had no crashes (except sever crashes) since beta.... and now with the patch... crash... crash... crash.. crash...
You get the picture.... i have more that the recommended specs to run the game and i have been doing since Beta... and now... it just does it all the time....
wonder if we could get a developer to look into this and perhaps...oh i don't know...post something....like "we are aware of this and working on it" or...."we care..."...instead of all the silence
I reinstalled game, still crashes and and it all color crazy like card is over heating, but wait it's not. Just crash after crash and still no word about whats going on, the more the still the world becomes.
Hi guys, i too experienced crash issues after an update bout a month ago, i did some research and found that the problem lied with having dynamic lighting switched on. Try switching that option to off i did that and not had one problem since, its apparantly a known issue with cruptic even to the point under its option it says can make system unstable i have a core i7 rig and have everything slapped on full and you really dont notice any difference when you switch this option off apart from a game thats more stable
i would see if it was enabled if the last crash on my Borg Mission didnt TRIBBLE my game up... wont get pass "Trying to update the Launcher" been like that for about 30 mins now -.-
good idea ty for that will see if that setting is online now =p
Update:
It was on so i will see if it crashes anymore after i turned it off... However... i am now having connection issues cause booting from the live client means i runnin without a Proxy which means LAG!!!!!!
Update... Again:
Unplayable without the EU proxy so i can't see if it will crash till my Launcher decides to work
ok, is there no option to switch it the proxy on? last time i whent in through the client my connection was pretty good, and that does sound like the problem should be solved now
460kb from runes of magic ON TOP of STO's download, over g wireless.
Oh look a new MMO that i can download as im re-downloading STO for the 3rd time. Public quests, mini games, seiges, man these videos make me wanna try it out. Oh wow its free and i can try it out before i hit the sack tonite.
I dont think its me. Im pulling in 10-15mbit on my wifi to all test sites. I have downloaded mutiple games and torrents way faster then im getting from cryptic.
Anyway, i dont want to be the whiney guy. Guess ill check it tomarrow.
Since i had the time i installed Eve online. ill just get into that tonite.
I've been crashing on 2 separate computers ever since yesterday. My laptop locks up al together while my more powerful desktop just blue-screens at random now.
I've been playing since the open Beta on both machine sand never had this problem until yesterday

Sorry, but maybe you should use the CPU as intended by AMD with just 2,2GHz.
Should be known that overclocking may cause stability issues....
I dont know, that PC looks kinda hefty, i dont think its been stressed enough to cook it. especially if this has been happening since yesterday. Kind of a coincidence i think.
