Fleet Star Bases Anyone? (Stuff for Fleets to do)

Hello Cryptic!

I think that you should give the STO fleets SB and they should be in different types and upgradeable.

For example a Fleet should start out with an outpost. then lets say something like a sciance staion. Then something like K7 and then somethin like SB 24 and finally something like Starbase 001.
I would like each SB to be very expensive and with the last type of star base possiballty being the the hundereds of millions ec (energy crid) the reasone being is I want whatever Fleet that gets them to have a VERY REAL sense of accomplishment. Hopefully this would encourge teamwork.

I would also want to be able to attack the bases also! :D That would be fun!

    I think we will see this sooner than later. Cryptic needs to clear the stuff currently on the table and the next set of issues slated after that. Then they will probably start in on a paid expansion. We might see such a thing in that expansion or in the first set of content updates after that.

    The real trick is embedding meaning in having a station. Just having one is not enough. There will have to be a real game play "meaning" behind the ability to have a base or colony. That meaning will have to be beyond the current combat-captain form of game play. If it is not, fleets having bases will have no adhesive qualities for the average or general player. The super group basses from CoX as a model just won't cut it. Cryptic needs to start thinking outside their gun-and-run play type box. Staying inside it will hurt them in the long-run.

    I honestly hated the SG bases in CoX, and to a point i kinda hope they dont do player starbases because of that. What exactly are they going to do with them? Invade them? Given side imbalances I feel sorry for the first klingon to put up a base..

    Actually come to think of it this isnt too bad. You could have the following there.

    Social hub.
    Fleet Vendors
    Pvp/Explore vendors
    Fleet Exchange
    A fleet message board
    Holosuit for 'training' (weapons testing ect)

    The only problem I see is if they make them attackable, I mean Starfleet isnt going to attack one of its own starbases except as a 'drill' (from which nothing is gained) but FvK starbase would be nice, however as pointed out side imbalances would practicly kill off the first Klingon base..

    The thing about CoX's bases is that they became essentially pretty transport hubs. There was (and still is) the intention of implementing PvP base raids, but the code for that is pretty messed up, so it hasn't happened yet. If STO allowed for the implementation of fleet vs. fleet PvP with these bases, that would be a pretty big use for them.

    Paneth, I like your suggestions, but you can't put too many things like vendors in fleet bases, other wise they take away from the open social areas like SB 01 or DS9. Really, a fleet base should unlock a few special fleet things, like fleet PvP or special 5 man fleet missions accessible only from a fleet base. A holodeck would be nice, but making holodecks fleet only would leave a lot of solo players out in the cold.

    Another thing that would be nice is tying the transwarp "network" to fleet bases. Right now, we can only transwarp to Sol. But if each base had a few transwarp gates outside it, one to DS9, one to K7, etc., that would be a huge incentive to get a base and upgrade it.

    sorry to say it but this has come up so many times before, along with flagged PVP zones, RVR etc, never has got any respeonee from cryptic.

    Actually, there has been responses to flagged PvP zones and RvR.

    What does "a response" mean? Please back up your vague inferences with a statement of intended meaning. The forums are about conversing.
