There's a very long line of intel 4 processors, some ranging from barely 1 ghz to those with 6 ghz and beyond though not stock of course. You'll need to be more sepcific.

Your graphics card is as important (if not more so) than your CPU in determining whether you can run the game, what does your system have?

Actually, one of the 280/295/285 Nvidia cards showed a severe performance drop when ran on older cpus when compared to other cards, even dropping below the cards that it easily beat on modern cpus. Which goes to show that you may have the best gpu in the world, but you still shouldn't neglect your cpu, that or Nvidia's gotten too caught up in the speed battle that they've neglected to optimize their cards for older cpus. Your pick.

Fair point, any slow component can be a bottleneck in terms of system performance. As NVidia 2xx series cards were made (probably) with i5/7/9 processors in mind, I wouldn't expect them to perform well paired with, say an early Core 2.

The higher 2** range cards maybe. The lower end ones are the same speed, if not slower than an 8800GT.

Well, that graphics card is below minimum spec (albeit only slightly, recommended is 7900), and well below recommended spec (8800). If I were you I'd upgrade your PC if you are serious about playing. Problem is, to get a decent build for your money you'd have to replace pretty much everything (seems pointless spending money on a graphics card for an outdated motherboard when for a little more you can get a complete, new system).
