late last night i had the chance to experience a 1v1 and a 2v2 pvp. it was a ton of fun. the match lasted about 2 to 5 min per death. unlike the 10 to 30 seconds it takes you in 5v5. Its seemed like it required more skills and thinking, countering attacks when hit with specials, rotation ship for shield regen, etc. if you get a chance log on around 1 to 2 am and give it a go. it was the only time we were actually able to enter in 1v1 and 2v2. anyway just thought i'd share my experience. :D

5v5 doesn't suck at all. In fact it's the best imo. Teamplay really shines in 5v5.

5v5 requires team work while 1v1 or even 2v2 does not so much. MMOs are typically built around team mechanics. I have see ships survive a HUGE pounding in 5v5 as long as their team mates are paying attention and doing their job right. When I run in a premade on Vent it is WAY more tactical than a 1v1 match can ever be.

Well we don't want to limit the team players from having their fun, but a solo or 2vs2 system would be cool...not that you will get any support from the aforementioned, and we know the reason why.

And think about people who can't gather 5 team mates at any time of the day.

Diversity is fine. There is no mention on STO box like : Be in a guild, play in team or busrt !

If people want lonewolf PVP they should have a map, if they want 2/2 they should have a map.
I don' like much seeing all these HCG players telling me how I have to play. If I had wanted to play HCG stuff, I would be on EVE right now.

Its a broken record of WoW's greatest hits.

If you don't raid you don't belong.

If you don't team pvp you don't belong.

If you suggest anything that goes against the WoW grain-even if its a side dish that won't hinder anything-you don't belong.

I actually put some feedback ingame about this.

In the shows you often see one ship going off to investigate distress signals, etc

Why not have a "Looking for trouble" queue, where you can queue yourself up and say end up having to save some ship from drifting into the sun, and oh TRIBBLE, they happen to be dilithium merchants and here is a klingon, who wants to raid the ship and then maybe let it fall into said sun?

    Bam! meaningful pvp, single combat.

Even break it into teams, patrol missions, etc.You and a buddy are out on the rim invesitaging spatial anomalies or something and oh TRIBBLE, some birds of prey are attacking some strange lifeform?

Or heck, you are guarding a troop transport and some feds show up to fill it full of democratic torpedoes, etc.

Even have pvp missions with alternate objectives, got one already, not that big of a deal to get another few.

Hell, most of the ideas are already in the show, just tweek em some and let us be in the cockpit, like most of us always want to be anyway.

Heck, i'd even like to see a Kobiyashi Maru scenario, though that might be less fun for the feds, not that normal pvp isn't anything like that now, with games starting with 5 on one side and 1 poor sucker on the other.

Team play can be fun, yes, but no sparring in the Klingon arena areas? No neutral zone duels? A lot of people I have talked to in-game have expressed the same sentiments. The mechanisms are already in place with the private/public queues. Don't get me wrong, I do *not* want to see unlimited pvp...that gets tedious very quickly when you are wanting to enjoy other aspects of the game. The only thing I can think of that would prohibit 1-on-1 would be abuse of the system, such as a player with 2 accounts or 2 players using one character as a punching bag.

Yeah if you want to know what is intolerance ask a religious fanatic or a PVP HCG ....

1v1 would need to be fix substantially.

1v1 would be about whoever has the best BoP Sci captain.

    2v2 is incredibly fun.

These scenarios already play out a lot in group PvP in capture and hold.

Would be nice to see duels.

There is actual a duel whitelist command that doesn't seem to work.

type /cmdlist and you'll see it.

1v1 Sci abilities would have to be worked out a little bit.

A fixing the bugged Sci Team would be a good start.

I would TOTALLY sign off on these ideas!

I love the 5v5's myself, and I wouldn't give up my teammates for the world, but at the same time a little variation in between of this kind might be JUST what PvPers could use (and it would be something else for Klingons to do!).

Different game sizes would be a great addition. Don't kill the 5v5s, they are good, but adding the opportunity to also play smaller or bigger games would rock.

I would for example also appreciate a 25v25. But for this size we need new maps and objectives. And first we need more players in the game participating in PvP too.

I'd also like to see the option for more variety of PvP match sizes. If there is a 1v1 option, though, for ground PvP the length of match (number of deaths wise) would have to be greatly reduced (to 10 or maybe even 5). 2 engineers going at each other with the Enemy Neut kits would take FOREVER.

It is like Night and day, if now only 5v5 could be like this eh? What you experienced is a more tactical combat, it is ship to ship combat, it is fine that it lasts 2-5 minutes, it is enjoyable that way.

And that is what would happen if they moved off the Disabling Ability Spam fest it is right now, you would have more tactical and more enjoyable Star Trek Ship to Ship Combat.

10 to 30 seconds life expectancy really is not enjoyable in a game such as this...I would not mind it in an Alterac valley or Warsong Gulch mind you but I do not expect the same Dynamics in a game that has StarShips fighting...it is sad...Been on Tribble today and there are some changes comming which I like, unfortunatelly the queues on Tribble are empty I am the only one queued there for PvP...I hope it will make PvP a better experience once Live if not more work to move off the CC ability Spam fest will be needed.

didn't mean to offend anyone by saying 5v5 sucks. just had a lot of fun with the 1v1 and 2v2. You know i don't usually post on forums but i have a question. how do you get an idea like this to the devs. Do you just have to get alot of feedback on a forum post or just submit it to them. I really think this would be great for the game. Some good old Wrath of Kahn battles :) hell maybe even a ladder system :) (starlance or GamerZ, for those who are familiar with it )

So, why is it that a -6 Klingon (under me) has the ability to immediately vaporize both my ship and character? Sounds a bit out of balance when I have the best possible weapons and shields and kits and for all intents and purposes, we should at the LEAST be close to matched...but no, he's way better than me and -6 rank...Cryptic, please fix...your game...
