Lack of Quests??

Hey guys got up to Captain 4 so far but what i have noticed while leveling up through the grades the lack of quests, yeah there are plenty of repeatable ones but surely those should be the optional quests at the side rather than having to grind levels doing them (which gets pretty boring and annoying ) in order to keep up with the small amount of Front missions. For example atm i am captain 4 and i have only got 1 more Front quest which is a Captain 6 patrol quest... which i would rather not do when i am two levels below it.
Am i missing something or does there need to be a couple more quests at least...

I'm not having any trouble with not having enough content. Though I have been pvp'ing a lot on my second fed character so I am back logged on Commander quests. When I created my first Fed Character that is RA5 now I never ran out of quests at Captain It took me another day to catch up on all the back log quests from Captain and finish up the RA5 quests.

You could try doing some of the Clusters and Nebular quests that give you 4th order badges for gear. They do give you about 1/3 a level for each set of 3 (exploration quest sets) you do. You could try some PvP that is always fun.

honestly i kept thinking that then i would do one of the repeatable ones and(unless im mistaken) I would gain a little more xp and then the npc's had more quest's to offer..almost everytime i felt the quest's were drying up this happened for me..so far

First thing I've got to say is the existing content and storys are just great. Love most of 'em to death. But not in a huggy, creepy aunt sort of way.

    But...

I've never been lacking for content as I level up my main, but they do need to branch out and provide additional arcs and episodes at every level to provide replay value. I'm working up a second character which I only use when teamed with my wife, and want to explore other classes. Sure, the varied powersets provide a level of variety, but after the 2nd or 3rd run through, all but the best mission arcs are pretty stale.

I'll use the hated WoW as an example. I make a Blue Mail Box Chick rogue, level up to umpteen whumpity Purple Leet. Then I make a dwarf hunter... I've got all new starting missions, a pile of content that's all new. Then I make a human nuke monkey, again, new starting missions, new story arcs, etc.

I realize that we'll be seeing more PvE (and thus hopefull something resembling "story" for Klingongs), but expanding the story/mission content at every level is a must if Cryptic wants to maintain a steady subscriber base. Otherwise people will say "Well, hit Uber Admiral, done the raids, and I don't really feel like going to P'Jem again. I wonder what new game is out?"

i mix it up a little and when the main quests are too high a level go do these:

    defend sector blocks
    exploration in clusters
    pvp (even though i suck)

Yes, you can party or team as they call it in STO. I sometimes find a real good Fed or Klingon Team and stay with them for several rounds before one or more have to split and do something else.

Just beware, the Klingon L33T's are every where you aren't. So Play both sides for the thrills!

yeah i love the story to the game i think it is very good how they involve things from the series into the game and stuff it just seems to me that there arent enough pve quests alone rather than having to do exploration and defence as well as pve quests tis' all

I actually don't know how you ran out of quests. I've got a ton of Captain quests loaded up at Captain 5. I do the Explore missions in between so I can collect badges for gear, but still. I seriously have no lacking in quest/missions.

Yeah I am always back-logged with quests and (if I want to do them in order) I have to do quests that are 4 levels below me most times. I do a bit of pvp and usually run the explore missions once or twice for each new area to get enough badges to buy a piece of gear or two.

I would rather there were less story quests actually. Having to repeat the defend a sector or exploration missions isn't bad imo. I would rather have less sequential story quests and instead have several different story arcs so it could be different when replaying (as suggested above).

I wish the story missions were made to scale to your current level so they are always an appropriate challenge. Seems kind of silly when the npcs tell me what to do and make it sound dramatic and dangerous and then when I beam down to find boxes of illegal subspace weaponry the enemies are so weak that my BrOs can kill them while I /afk and none of us goes below 80% shields. :(

I think the scaling will come with the Difficulty Slider we'll be seeing soon. If the story is a couple levels down, just amp up the slider a bit and that should make it worth doing I hope.

Yeah, it might be better than automatically scaling to the players level. Each person can fiddle with it then to get it right.

I am just a little bored with the difficulty level being so low right now. I don't really want to skip quests, because the storyline is pretty decent and I am enjoying following along. It's just hard to take it seriously when the scaling is so off.

Has cryptic said when the difficulty slider is coming? I know they mentioned it was in the works, but I don't when. I don't really want to do missions until I can make them fun. It feels like wasting the story the way it is.

If I just do pvp it only exacerbates the problem. I would have to take a beating for awhile too since I just got into tier 3 and have no gear or skills at commander level yet.

Yes, there is a bug of some sort, or it is supossed to work that way, but here it goes... You have to go to DS9 and meet in person Kurland(sp?) in the operations room. Normally he would give you the next arc by hailing Starfleet but he does not. I think that arc is at aptain 4 or 5. If you dont go see him, you will miss a chain of 3 episodes, although you will be able to Hail if you did the first one. Those episodes are very nice and tied-in with the True Way and Jem'Hadar:

    - Forging Bonds
    - The Long Night
    - The New Link

In thodr arcs, you get to go to Empok Nor. The New Link is about the Changelings naturally. A lot of people are missing those episodes betweem captain 4-5 and Rear Admiral becasue you have to meet Kurland in person to start them.
