Bat'leth on Fed BOFF

So I just bought a Bat'leth for my Federation Klingon Tactical BOFF and switched his skills to martial arts (leg sweep, lunge, etc) and take him into battle. Much to my dismay, while my other BOFFs and myself gunned down the opposition, my Klingon just sat there in a crouch and never pulled out his Bat'leth. I was hoping to watch him unleash a can of it, what gives?

I've never seen my BOff use his Bat'Leth as well, so I switched to a split beam instead. I think it's a bug.

sometimes the bridge officers just don't do what they are supposed to, they have they were working on it...i don't know if it's just their general problems or if there is a specific bug though

BOs won't use melee attacks unless somebody walks up to them first (and even then that's far from a guarantee) no matter what weapon they have equipped.

The problem is that Boffs don't use melee combos(check STOked for info) so they won't go into melee.

You can order them individually to melee but they still only use basic attacks. Boffs did use Leg Sweep in OB but it seems bugged in live.

I have a martial arts boff with a bat'leth and she is also stubborn about using it. I find that if I continually have her lunge and leg sweep an opponent within melee range of myself I can get her to use the bat'leth.

I agree - I'd like to see that fixed as well.

I mean, I have a female klingon science officer that I trained up with a lot of point-blank abilities. I figured that health heals in melee, plus point blank powers, plus bat'leth swinging would be pretty awesome. Alas, this was not the case.

Yep. Just one of the many problems with ground combat. It's very unfortunate, especially if you spend a lot of time crafting an all-melee squad, skilling them up, and giving them gear.

...only to find out that they just stand around chain-smoking.

I noticed this same thing on my BO's. They would never attack in melee combat.

lol, this reminds me of something similar in open beta, I picked up a fire extinguisher on a mission and thought it may be useful for putting out plasma grenades so I gave it to a BO, obviously I credited the AI with too much 'I' and the result was seeing my Science BO running round shooting people with the extinguisher.

This resulted in much hilarity for about 5 mins, especially as I was on fire at the time. Alas... but no DPS
