wait till all your char are RA5 with nothing to do
I'm getting kind of tired seeing these post for a removal of the skill cap.
Have Any of U from the 'Remove the skill cap camp' Ever bothered to check out how many hash marks are on Admirl Quinn's chest? Have any of you? There are 5 hash marks. For you numbskulls, thats means 4 1/2more ranks are yet to come. That means another 72K points to spend,
I also believe that we have in game just about all the trek techno babble skill boxes too. That means there will probably be few new skills boxes added to the game. Sure there might be a few here and there like the 3 new skills they added on Tribble. But for the most part I think we have all the elemental types covered. I'm talking about phaser, disruptor, plama etc etc. We also have all the sjips covered as well with vairants being cosmetic only and avaiable in the cstore.
This IP is huge. There are whole quandants(Delta Gamma) they can and will add in the Future. The have a skill cap in place to offer advanment with these expansions and too have a game mechanic in place that will allow new players to advance and catch up with vets.

I find your 'camps' lack of vision, disturbing.
why are you QQ'ing your little camp got what they want, a cap and a dead end no content game that has a star trek sticker on it

Irony.
You claim others have a lack of vision while you fail to see that there is more than "levels" to advancement, and the skill system, as was originally intended, was designed to reflect that.
You claim others lack vision, all the while being entirely unable to see past the same tiny mold that the vast majority of games have followed for years. THAT is a lack of vision.
The question is "are you bored" Do you support the removel of the skill cap or a complete rework? Or is the game fine as is?
Yesterday I did a respec on Tribble and it was interesting to find a balanced setup for all my needs. I optimized it for 2 ship types and 3 weapon types and didn't missed any important skill. I think it's fine as it is.
You just have to get over it that you can't maximize all ships, all weapons and everything else. Also don't expect a complete revamp because making some extra money with things like more char slots and respecs is part of Cryptics legitimately business strategy. Like all others they work for profit, not as a charity organisation for players with omnipotence fantasies.
You are the Bor'd.
Every time you advance, we fall back.
You assimilate entire forum threads, we fall back.

Or were the countless other threads on this topic not enough?
I have seen many topics today on this issue by the same poster...
Odo needs to start closing these posts down to one....
and to reiterate what I said when I replied to the other posts that Skill Cap is not the problem right now..
Again we must all work to make sure that an excessive Death Penalty does not get a hold on this game.
all I know is that this excessive DP nonsense must end now..

I agree 100% allot vision is very short sighted for a long term game, if we had it all now where would the game go for expansions and such, the game wiill grow you will get more skill points to spend, now is not the time.. I just can't see no skill caps on a new game, as expansions come out, more skill points will be available, I see no problem with that..:)
No, I don't support the removal of the skills cap. A new RA5 should be able to compete with one who's been there for weeks. Remove the cap and eventually you'll have people with every single skill maxed out and then newer players will not stand a chance.
I don't support the removal of skill cap either. If they did remove it, the game would be even easier than what it already is (hard to believe it is possible, I know).
anybody who supports removing skill caps needs to grow a brain, learn 2 read before you put skill points in anything and be happy with what you have chosen! you cant have everything and if there's any justice there will never be an option to have everything. and thats all i have to say on the matter

Learn to read? I would love to read all about what each skill does specifically. How they effect each other and when do I get a bonus or penalty for the choices I make.....
but Cryptic is... well... cryptic when it comes to that. Show me where they've told us all we want to know and then I'll bow down and kiss your combat boots.

LMAO... That was win.
No seriously on topic. Yes I support either remake of the system, or removal of the cap. The entire system itself was based on a CAPLESS system. Putting a cap on it kinda made me go: Wtf O.o??? or WTF U DOIN!?

Skill caps are needed to prevent such things.
Take a good hard look at the skills, only 3 at a time stack. even if player A) who has been RA for a week fights Player who has been RA for months the fight would be even.
Seriously if you look at the skills they are balanced out so only 3 of them stack at a time. So whats this guy got over you? Escorts at 9 while hes flying a Cruiser? sheesh.
I dont support a total removal of the cap but I do support getting more skill points that we do now, even if we were to get to 50 now the skill points would not be enough to get one or two 'extra' skills.
we need to be more vocal about removing the cap, i know alot of people dont like that but the further it gets the harder it will be to uncap. A huge rework is fine but that will take a long time, time they could spend on content.
One idea is to lift the cap but make earning points after RA5 be slowed to 95% of what it is before RA5. this would fix the system and filling out all the points take ages, this leave more time for the dev to work on content and still leave a reasion to respec
I support a respec and player understanding of the re-envisioning of the skill system. It would be nice if the skill UI was redesigned to make explicitly clear what skills do, how they interact with one-another and the needed connections for specific outcomes.
like rank to be granted only complete certain major, very hard battle or task or "raid" instances, with special rewards too. not necessary to be battle, diplomatic actions will work.
while grades act more like experience, can keep going as military career goes.
besides it is absurd to see bunch Rear admirals running around in any military system
with higher grades, player gain access to perks or special stuff.
I support about 100+ more hours of game play before the skill cap should even be looked at.
Skill cap or no skill cap is meaningless without content to fill the void. So maybe all the skill cap complainers should shift there argument to more content so the skill cap would actually mean something.

So: Do you support a Removal of the skill cap or a huge rework?
...are those my only two options?
I honestly don't mind a skillcap, every game has one essentially in one form or another.
I don't really think a rework is necessary, it never confused me, infact it made sense to me from the get go.
Only thing I would probably remotely think of is, adding more levels to achieve each season.
AKA season 1 has current cap (the named referred to current lots of patch releases.
Each season after that should have 5 to 10 ranks achievable with new skills available. AKA from rear Admiral 5 to whatever damn ranking system trek fans want to argue. But nothing beyond Fleet Admiral, I will not expect, or suggest the cap going beyond fleet admiral.
Hell, I wish admiral was not an achievable rank in this game, just say, 5 lots of ten captain or something...just continue being a better captain.
Too many chiefs, not enough indians. And the probably 99.9% of the chiefs (admirals) don't have leadership quality befitting that rank.
But really, no will wish to see a skill cap removal. More content.
wait till all your char are RA5 with nothing to do
Like I do on any game at Max level for years without getting bored and actually, having more fun then I was doing missions and leveling: Role Play
x3...
I am trying to hold on. This game is starting to be as exciting as Mario 64 and I don't have to have to pay subscription for that.
Whatever it is they are going to do to fill the void, they got about a month more subscription to get it in place before I leave. I am Trekkie for sure, but I am not backing a lame duck, period.

I support both but a rework would take away from the dev's time to make content, Anyways somthing needs to be done kinda fast
Skill caps are needed to prevent such things.
I want:
Death Penalty.. but not too harsh.
Full 3-D movement
Skill Tree that makes more sense.
More content... much more.
The ability to duel a friend
More Fleet options.
