PC reboots while loading

I just bought the game, but about 45 seconds into loading the game, after the 'Cryptic' and 'Atari' logos go by and it shows the starfleet communicator logo with 'Loading...', the screen went black and my PC rebooted!

I upgraded my video card driver, no luck. Then upgraded sound card driver, same thing. I'm running XP SP3 with NVIDIA GeForce 6200 and HDA X-Mystique 7.1 Gold sound card, DirectX 9.0c.

dxdiag download:

Thanks!

More than likely the 6200 won't cut it, but you can always try to disable some AGP settings in the BIOS.
    • AGP Aperture set this to 64MB. If you have this much RAM or less, set it to half of the system RAM.
    • AGP Turbo **Try disabling this if there are problems with the card**
    • AGP Fast Writes **Try disabling this if there are problems with the card**
    • VGA boot from **Set to AGP instead of PCI**

Your graphics card is below the minimum requirements. You could try starting the game in safemode (in the launcher click OPTIONS -> tick the box 'safemode'), but other than that there's not much you can do.

Hmm, I took a look at your dxdiag and worse even than your gfx card is your CPU. It's also way below the minimum specs. A low-end single core CPU won't pull this game.

Even if you can somehow get the game to run, it won't be very playable. You'll need a better computer unfortunately.

Oh!! Well, this ol' bucket had a good run. Of course, I would have preferred a 'your computer sucks' error message than a reboot.

    Thanks for the replies!
