So here is the most confusing question, when you initially pick your character how important are the traits you pick?
I don't understand how vital 0.1 Accuracy really is on a ship? or how important +10 to warp core training is?
What do they do?
can someone go through all of the traits and explain exactly what relevance they have and how important they are?
What does it mean +10 to warp core? is that 10 skill points or what? i don't get it?
Just glancing at it, the ground based traits that offer resistance far outweigh the space once?? Truth?
I mean seriously it dosn't seem balanced. 0.1 Accuracy to the ship or ground run hold placate resistance of about 50% across the border? id take the resistance any day.

They're not very important, actually. Don't worry about this too much.
I'm not sure about the accuracy traits, but for Warp Theorist, Efficient, Astrophysicist and Techie - those traits boost the corresponding SKILLS. Warp Theorist is +10 to the Starship Warp Core Training Skill. Not skill points. Not ranks. Just a bonus to the skill's effectiveness.
I think it's actually a +10% bonus, but I'm not sure on that. In any case, it relies on you actually having points in Warp Core Training - if you don't, then it doesn't really do anything. It's mostly valuable for someone who's gonna max out that skill anyway.

That would be true - if most of the game were ground-based. It isn't. The split's something like 70% space, 30% ground. Or maybe 60% space, 40% ground.
And for most people, ground gameplay is easier than space combat. There are exceptions - some people find ground combat hard. But the majority of players have a pretty easy time with ground combat...because it's a lot more straightforward. So long as you keep upgrading your armour, shields, and weapons, you should be fine with the ground game.
In fact, a lot of players like to create custom alien characters so they can take pure space traits (Usually Efficient, Astrophysicist, Techie and Warp Theorist). Many of these players also don't spend points on ground skills. It is entirely possible to play the game with NO skill points in ground abilities.
That said, if you like the ground game - sure, go ahead, build your character around that. My main has mostly space traits, but my alt's got mostly ground traits aside from Warp Theorist.
But I'm of the opinion everyone should max out the Starship Warp Core Training skill anyway.
