Hey guys, for some reason, sometimes when I play, the game shuts down my entire computer. Not just crashing, but my entire system so I have to keep turning it back on. Sometimes it happens only 5 minutes into the game, sometimes it takes 2 hrs. Please tell me I'm not the only one w/ this problem :( I don't know what's wrong & I'd like to play w/out having to restart my computer all the time.
I have an Acer with Windows Vista, & an ATI graphics card, if that helps at all. If some1 can help me with this problem?

I'm going to move this directly to the PC & Technical Issues forum for assistance diagnosing this. If it's shutting down your entire system, it's probably something beyond a game bug.

You can also submit a Tech Support ticket at http://www.startrekonline.com/support/tech

    Sounds like a memory problem.
Could be GPU memory or regular Memory. IDK....

usually two things will cause a shutdown.

!. main thing overheating on the CPU . it is a safety feature to project the CPU if it gets too hot.
    2. Power supply failing or too weak. Voltage is not stable so the voltage drop to the CPU. Also Overheating on the PSu will shutdown the system.

There are a number of programs you can get on the net that will display the temp of yur PC. Some will even record the temp to a file so you can see what happens to the temp before during and after you play the game.

I know nothing is wrong with my pc as i run all the top games from bf2 to eve with no problem... what i would like to know is if the original poster used steam to get sto as im beging to think it has somthing to do with that
