Can we fight over Klingon / Federation space instead of these arenas.
It would be nice to raid federation space, or take sectors. Otherwise what's the point.
This is War. Not these que me up thing.
Why cant move into Fed/Klin space. Take terrortory etc, Come on, that's real PvP. Even if u get chased out. that's way more fun.
As it stands now - it's getting Old and Boring as it is now. Same Maps, etc
Let go take some federation systems and get a 0.2 percent buff everytime we take a planet of system.
have a REAL WAR. Not a arena Gladitor instance that yields no Goals what so ever.
Good idea and they can add something like when klingons go into fed space they are flaged for pvp, but the feds are not unless they attack the Klingers ships or something. This way you would not have the people not wanting to partake in pvp complaining.

This is such a great idea that I think will not be implemented. But I myself am all for it.
Some people don't remember the end of beta event (or weren't here for it). It was full open PVP, Klingons flying around Fed space and going anywhere they please. And it was a massacre. The Klingons got slaughtered and spawn camped to the point where you could not even warp to sector space because you were getting insta gibbed by 20 Mirandas in a Neghvar.
Fact is and always will be, Feds have a huge numbers advantage. You can't have unrestricted, open PVP without forcing Klingons to defend Qo'nos every day, constantly. The Feds can zerg easily. Until they solve that, open PVP isn't going to be much fun.

You speak true and it's common sense. Nerf the opponent until he can no longer resist and then ZERG him into submission = much fun to be had by the entire community.
Silliest comment of the thread? Let's have open PvP (RvR) but give one team the option of doing so wherever they are and OBTW: it's the faction that dominates 95% of the server population.
Totally casual gamer approach: I want open RvR, I want to participate only when things look good. If I'm getting owned, I want to cast invulnerability and then take my ball and go home. If I want the benefits of zone buffs that my brothers provided me, I can take advantage of them AND not have to worry about a KDF attacking me to change it to his side. That's just brilliant. Flip a zone and the winner says "we win" and stops PvP'ing in the zone. DAoC or Warhammer anyone?
What I haven't seen mentioned is how some of the best ship vs ship PvP I have seen yet takes place in Borg space during daily missions. Yea the Feds hate it when a BoP comes out uncloaked and hits them at the wrong moment, but the Klingons don't like it much either when a science ship jumps them while a battlecruiser is engaged.
Just saying, in Borg space the fun goes both ways often and keeps everyone on their toes.

I just said that because you know Fed would complain about klingons attacking them when they dont want to be attacked, its not that hard of a concept potbs has this sort of when you are a pirate in a ship that is not ment for pirates you are flaged for pvp. meaning any national can attack you at any time anywhere, Kind of like how this would be implamented Klingon goes into Fed space prepare to be chased and zerged. I wouldnt mind this and would actually make playing my Klingon char fun.
I like this idea but wondering if it wouldn't be better just to have a seperate pvp server. One where both sides clash over territory and fight for it.
I am a long time WWII online player. Maybe something along the lines that they use could be implemented. There you fight over a huge map for cities, towns, and territory until one side is pushed all the way back and the other side wins. Then the map gets reset and we start all over from the beginning.
The problem i have is i just don't want this to become like eq I was, open pvp where you can be zerged and griefed, having your game time interrupted for so many hours being camped you have to log off.
People need to be given the choice if they want to participate in pvp. Sometimes I want to pvp, other times i just want to enjoy pvp content.

Still missing the key point, while the idea is ok.
The Point is lack of players for one side versus the other. So it will alway be one side butchering the other, nothing will change that. The majority of players want to be the "so called good guys" versus, the "so called warmongers"
An open pvp zone like Lake Wintergrasp in World of Warcraft would work nicely here. If you don't want to pvp, then you don't have to enter the zone. So let's have a big open zone, and it can have objectives I suppose. Make it like starbase 24.

If there is going to be open pvp, then this is the way to do it. Taking Federation/Klingon sector space isn't going to happen and shouldn't.
We do need better pvp with a goal. I enjoy pvp but.... Doing the same maps over and over is getting boring. I'm not sure about the territory idea. It sounds like a good one but there would be a lot of issues to consider as everyone has mentioned. (Also this is the first MMO I have ever played so I cannot draw on previous experiences! and I'm a bit of a noob to the whole entire thing really) But... What I'd like to see is MORE pvp maps and different varieties to keep things fresh. We could have pvp arenas with a goal - rather than just killing the other player, the goal could be something else, and it could be a different goal for each side. If you obtain your goal then your side wins regardless of the overall death count on each side. Lets say for example we could have an arena where the Klingons are in some building or facility and the feds are outside. The goal of the feds is to break in and obtain some item that the Klingons apparently stole or whatever (any number of stories they can make up around this really) and the goal of the Klings is to keep the feds out. The klings could utilise equipment in their facility while the feds could utilise equipment they have outside - giving each side different advantages and disadvantages. OR vice versa. Or countless other scenarios similar to this idea (I'm sure someone else could come up with better ideas along the same lines) where there is a different goal that makes a particular pvp map unique.
There are a lot of things we see in the tv shows that don't really play any part in the game at all. There's so much more they could do with PvP other than just "beat the other side up"
Ok I will say this again. We need pvp that has meaning. There should be a zone where to enter is to consent to pvp. Also there needs to be a difference limit like everquest has on their pvp servers where you cannot be attacked by someone X levels above you. This allows lower level toons a chance to enjoy the zone as well.
Next there should be npc interaction in the form of bases and convoys. Players should have to escort and attack the convoys and they should be worth some sort of advantage or bragging right for the winning factions. Next bases and planets should be raidable and subject to capture or liberation. Again some sort of faction reward in the form of bragging rights etc should be awarded.
There needs to be some neutral locations where both sides can meet, There should be objectives at these locations that can be achieved through role playing or pvp ground as circumstances dictate. This would give the secret order and intelligence types something to do. It could also lead to a future expansion of the skill system as new espionage skills might have a purpose.
Finally, there should be a class of players like ferengi or other free traders or even syndicate members. Their goal should be latinum and they should be able to play their trade either legally or illegally across the battle lines and thus be subject to pvp.
This type of setup combines pve and consensual pvp into a interesting blend that would provide great depth of play.

Has been many thoughts and ideas of something like this... who is to know if it will come to pass. I would like to see the entire neutral zone turned into a PVP zone... ditch the sector map for there and make it several zones we have to traverse to get to one side or the other, Open pvp or course. Add in some systems we can take control of via ground and space combat and bam... maybe some pvp with a point to it.
Obviously the whole thing about everyone spawning in the same spot just wont work in open RvR maps. The random spawn points, or spawning in places where the other team cant go would be the preferable solution. They would also have to make it so instead of only allowing a max of 20-40 people on the map and woops 30 feds are already on the map so only 10 klingons at most can be on it would need to be fixed.. obvious solution there is put a cap that is 50% of max for the map for each side ie.. if 40 is the max population then allow only 20 feds and 20 klingons. Once that was implimented Zone Combat would be awsome!
You mean like the Ker'rat system in the neutral zone?
I think he was thinking more of like a place where he can roam around and be taged or tag someone into a instance and duke it out. Not the go into a system and que up for a fight, or beam down o a empty planet.

Should I assume you've not been to Ker'rat either? No one ever says Ker'rat sucks or we need more places like Ker'rat. I get the feeling no one tries anything besides the queues.

Right now, every system in the neutral zone, except for Ker'rat, opens the queues or takes you to a base. The queues can be opened from anywhere already. What I think ought to happen, is something similar to the longer quote here. The neutral should indeed be a much more PvP oriented place. The zone itself, sector space, shouldn't be changed, but every system should have a specific, unique map with a specific, unique goal, much like Ker'rat.
I'm sure this has been suggested somewhere, but that's really what ought to happen. Let the queues remain as they are, for set-up type matches, but allow neutral zone systems to keep rolling players in and out.
This would obviously take a lot of development time, since creating unique maps and missions for, what, 10-20 systems? would be a lot of work. Of course, they could cut it in half by creating a certain amount of offense vs. defense type maps. Klingons are on offense in the systems on the fed side of the zone, Feds are on offense in the red side of the zone.
I agree that pvp is getting boring. i know it takes time to create new maps, but something needs to be done. if not they will lost the core players. we need more pvp. It is boring to die only to respawn in a spot to die again. it need to be opened up, may be more pvp fleet action. fleet action can be fun but not the same map; over and over again.
i would like to see something add to our profile; like a medal for kill (pvp). they could color code it to change when a # of kill is reached. Give us something to shoot Without goals we will lose interest.
