account serious problems

I bought the game from best buy and I also installed it, made an account, and verified it. It told me I can now login and psot on the forums, well that doesn't happen because when I go to post on anything but here it says my account hasn't been verified.... I also can't login and play because it says account error contact billing support. I entered my key that I got from my game box and everything. Do I also have to buy a subscription or a game card? because I thought the key gave you 30 days free.

    Yes, you will need to setup a subscription with a credit card, paypal, or STO gamecard. Once you do that you will get 30 days of play time from activating the retail game purchase.

    If you use a credit card or paypal, you can cancel this subscription before the 30 days are up and not get charged.

    So the key that came with the game is just for making your account and not for getting 30 days? Like you have to go buy a game card type that code in and you get the regular 60 days? what happens to the 30 days.

    Correct, the game requires two parts

    Part one - retail game key purchase
    Part two - active subscription

    If you activate the retail key and enter a 60 day STO game card on the same day (subscription), you should have 90 days of play time.

    Ah, now i understand :) thanks a lot. It clears up why i can't post anywhere else on the forums or why i can't login to the game now :cool:. guess i shoulda read some of the forums before asking all these questions :p

    how long does it take to go through? because it told me the gamecard was successful ( just bought one) and it still says account error contact billing support.

    when you entered the gamecard did you also setup the subscription plan (1 month) . I don't know how often they update the auth servers but from other games I played it could take up to an hour for the server to update.

    Also be sure the retail key took and your account shows in the feature product the retail game.
    You may have to re enter the key and then select the subscription option. followed by selected your game time card as the payment for the subscription

    You still haven't put in your retail key. This is either in the back of the manual in a boxed copy, or should have been emailed to you for a digital one.
