Why the range on loot drops?

I guess I don't get why you have to be within a certain distance of a loot drop to take it. I don't care about ground as much as I do space though. It just doesn't make sense to me.

All loot drops are player specific, so it's yours no matter if you are solo or with a team, unless it is a need/greed situation. It's not like some other MMOs where loot drops are fair game to whoever gets to them first.

The main reason for my complaint is that I play with the cruiser class. As we all know, they turn like a pig, especially the T4. So trying to swing around to pick up a loot drop takes forever.

I really think that the range to take loot should be dropped altogether. There's just no need for it. If something is going to drop loot it should just go to your inventory with a message, or keep the take loot message and cue them all up like it already does for some multiple drops.

Like I said before, I really only care about this for space as it is pretty easy to run around and pick up loot on the ground, but the same principle applies.

Does anybody have a good reason for keeping it the way it is?

Well, most the time I leave the 'engine battery' I would get for defeating a battleship +3 above me..

There is no 'Risk equals Reward' in STO so why bother even picking it up..

I agree, the range should be removed or greatly increased. It adds unnecessary hassles.

Also it would be cool if they played a transporter effect on top of the loot when you collect it, like you're beaming it on board.

yeah, it's such a pain when by the time you've faught off the rest of the baddys and turned to get to the things they've timed out and you've lost whatever loot it was.

    hi all, :D

I don't leave ANYTHING, I ALWAYS return for the loot, as only if it was symbolic.

I understand it is a whole deal with a big cruiser, but hey, you are playing STO, I don't belief it bathers that much to you, otherwise you would have said it earlier in the game.

    Eskaton :D

Although I wholeheartedly agree that loot ranges should be increase and boring, lame batteries should drop alot less, there is something that can help your big cruiser. With the exception of battle always run max aug and drop to half impulse on turns. I never have power in my weapons til I know I need them.

Good tip Thrax. It does help a little but still I find the whole concept unnecessarily tedious.

Eskaton - not sure where you were going with that. Perhaps something got lost in the universal translator? ;)

At least 'good' loot is a different shape?
