I have been in many PVP battles as a klingon and as a Federation. My Kligon is a BG5 with
reverse shield polarity one and two as well as emergency power to shields. I have recently
come across certain individuals, one clan specifically that can Kill you with all three buffs
occurring one after the other. They are the only ones I have seen this with. Is there some kind of
hack they are using to eat through my shields even though using all three buff back to back?
I have looked at my combat log and they are using nothing special but beam attacks. Any help on this subject. I would hate to think people are cheating....but.
Let me know wht you think....Doc

Bleed through is one. Second is the FBP, if you are using beams than you are getting killed with FBP.
There's that engineering skill that increases bleedthrough...I forget what it's called. I've not messed with it much. I imagine if you spec for it, it might get nasty enough.
You should replace one of your Emergency Power to Shields with Engineering Team, at least, which grants hull healing and resistance. Hazard Emitters is a good science hull health+resist ability too -- Eng Team is 10k range or self, Hazard Emitters is 5k range or self.
But yeah, the most common way of killing someone through shields is to stack Beam Target Subsystem Shields. Two or three people doing this will make your shields simply turn off and it's not really apparent what happened unless you notice your shield power slider indicates it's completely empty.
Are you quite certain it is not directed energy modulation in conjunction with other damage boosting effects? 2-3 people using DEM+attack patterns+tac teams+etc etc can chew you up even if you had RSP up 100%
Is anyone using a tractor beam on you? A tractor beam will make one shield facing absolutely worthless.
You need to select your enemy and mouse over their buffs then come back here and post your findings. You also need to not rely solely on shields and as an added note not solely on hull either. To get the best out of pvp I find you need to "find a middle ground" between offensive abilities hull repair/resistance and keeping your shield up.
Try using one of the engineering "armor" consoles.
Just a few things to think about.
rofl, i always wondered about what the op mentioned, why my shield was at full power, still active and not even down, but my hull was taking all the damage. that would happen on either Fed or Klingon toons. I just avoid space pvp, unless its the daily, that just incredibly...stupid.
Get a Video Capture going record what is going on.
I had that happening to me as well a couple of times I did not give it too much attention dismissing it a glitch in the game, latency, lag etc. But since I am not the only one now.

I post in every one of these threads I find, because I too have created threads about this happening, and been eviscerated by all the people who think that I must not know how to play, or didn't see someone beam target shields on me or whatever. My personal opinion is that there is some combination that lets antiproton weapons get through shields, along with DEM or some such. However, there is another thread now where a guy says this is happening in T4, so it can't be antiproton. I do not know what it is, but I have been burnt down several (not countless, but several) times fighting against Feds with at least 2 escorts (I never bothered to get their names and it hasn't happened in about 2 weeks, I mention the escorts because it seemed a pre-made that was set up this way) and myself and my entire team lose 15-0 every time, and we die with full shields.
All the other people trying to rationalize this somehow, whether they're being jerks or really thinking they're trying to help ..all that aside, there is a way this happens, and it needs to be found and fixed, whatever it is.
1. All energy weapons deal bleedthrough damage, at 10% of the total damage of the shot, minus resistances, minus any special shield behaviors (i.e. Resilient shields cut that back to 5% of total damage). Players who know what they're doing and hit cooldowns can achieve very high energy weapon damage, which in turn means that bleedthrough is not inconsiderable.
For some numbers, with all buffs (AP:Alpha, AP:Beta, EP:W, EPS Power Transfer, etc) and max weapon power, my T5 Cruiser's beams impact hull for 1800-2000 damage per beam. That's still 200ish damage to hull through shields, times six beams (though in practice not all six are firing at 125 weapon power). Against a squishier ship like a Science Vessel, you can die from bleedthrough alone.
2. Feedback Pulse is an obvious example of an attack which bypasses shields entirely.
3. Plasma weapons can leave a dot that directly damages hull, though at the moment this dot is pitifully weak and unthreatening. When the patch hits and this dot stacks, that behavior may change.
4. Directed Energy Modulation reduces the total damage output of your energy weapons but significantly increases bleedthrough. Combined with ordinary damage buffs, this can greatly increase hull damage through shields, especially from ships with heavy energy weapon loadouts and a lot of weapon power (i.e. Cruisers).
I wouldn't be at all surprised to see my hull go from 100-0 in 10-15 seconds against a couple of properly configured ships with all their damage buffs running, even through RSP and full shields. RSP is not an invincibility button, nor should it be so.
A tractor beam will make one shield facing absolutely worthless
DEM was either not working, or not having much effect. It is possible that it got fixed, or that someone worked on how to make it effective.
I've seen odd cases where my hull AND shields vaporize instantly, and I believe there is a bug where weapons sometimes do massive excess damage. (Some code probably has a typo where 100.0 is in there as a multiplier instead of 1.0).

I knew you'd eventually come on here to whine. Nothing special but beam attacks? And accusing us of cheating.. w/o proof...
For shame...
How did your ticket for reporting us as cheaters turn out? They turn you away? That MIGHT be cause we're not cheating...
Several other people figured it out, you might wanna do some more research doc...
Oh, and to quote the famous Kirk.. "..I'm laughing at your superior intellect."
i believe that is why he posted, to get information. If he accused you of cheating, well I wouldn't know, nor do I care. I been called a hack and a cheater too, but whatever, right. I play the game with the tools available and lay waste to my oponents, or get spanked by them. I still have fun, but there are those moments when something unique happens, that one must question themselves, how did that happen.

waahhh waaahhh. How dare you accuse us of cheating, and how dare you say our beam attacks aren't special. I'll have you know each one of our beams are special one-of-a-kind attacks, made to help you (the novice) get better at this game. So every time you die, during those repawn time outs, you have time to think about us. In short, me love you long time.
DEM, Antiproton and lowering the targest resist (which can go to negative numbers) is enough to burn through those shields an nuke your hulls. Especially escorts type ships.
That is why shields that allow less bleed through and have absorbtion are so important.
Nothing that a Hazard Emitter and Engineering team can't solve if you chose to use a 10% bleedthrough shield.
If you run across 3 or 4 Engineer Captains all with DEM even at T4 you can easily get burned down with some resist debuffs.
And this explains why I take full damage to hull thru rsp from someone using a tractor beam on me, and take only 10% damage to hull when that tractor beam wears off.
I watch my hull health at all times and when it drops really really slow then somone pops a tractor beam and it drops really really fast, that says something to me.
Maybe I am wrong and they are using something else and the tractor is just there as a joke.
But when I take 35% hull damage in a few seconds at full shields in my t5 cruiser from 1 person with a tractor beam on me I look for something to blame!
If I ever see it happen again I will make note of the buff's and my combat log, but all I see any more is decloak/snb/vm pew pew you dead.
Or carrier with 24+ pets snb/vm/ramming speed pew pew you dead.
And all the klingons say they have no science captains? Ok so I guess they just have all science bo's? w/e
Cool game but its so full of "working as intended" bugs and exploits its hard to have fun some times.
Sorry I rant at times.
Oh and I have never used beam weapons since I first ran into fbp on my first character. I like pretty beams but if it is going to kill me then why bother?

It seems it has to do with skilled phaser and antiproton what double damage from phasers at the moment.
