I also had to log in and out several times, but the "launcher" window finally opened itself and started downloading the prepatch.. so yeah. it may take a few cycles to convince it to work.
Took several log on and offs but its started to download for me , whoa 1.5gb? for a preload patch? this better be good thats a hefty prepatch we must be getting lots n lots of goodies lol
Yeah, as I just made mention of in another thread, we have discovered a few minor issues with the pre-patching process that are causing complications for some people.
To reiterate: If you are experiencing difficulties in pre-patching, please just keep trying. We're working on it as we speak, and appreciate your patience.
Sorry for the incoinvenience everyone, we're trying to get this resolved ASAP, I assure you. As soon as I know more, I'll let you guys know.
Took me a few "log offs" too for the pre patch to start downloading but about 25% into it, my connection had a hicup and i got disconnected. All the data that i received before was gone and it had to restart from the beggining. Is it a bug or does the patching system is made that way?
If it's a bug then i can live with it but if it's coded that way, that's just lame. All the other MMOs I play will resume patching where it was interupted. It's especially frustrating considering that you can actually see the data being written in the Prepatch folder.
With a 1.5gb download that DOESN't get in as fast as my connection allows, I would expect it to resume where it stopped.
I completely preloaded allready and after my last game closing.. I am preloading again.. intended?
Depends on how much you pre-loaded the first time. The way our patcher works, it retains all data, even if the patch doesn't "finish."
To give a more explicit example, using this case as a basis: Say there's a 1.6GB patch up. You download the patch, but only get to about 50%. You should now have only about .8GB left to download, but even still when the patching process begins for the second time, it will read as if at 0%. That's just because, of what you currently still need to patch, you've got 0% progress.
That being said - can you say with confidence that you downloaded the entire pre-patch in the first wave, and yet are still pre-patching again?

Will those of us who downloaded the content from the Tribble shard need to re-download the content? Or will the launcher automatically detect the Tribble content and only patch what was changed?

I'm not 100% sure, but I doubt it. While our patcher does retain previously patched data as I described, the Tribble PTS shard is essentially considered a whole separate game. All game data for Tribble is stored separately, so I highly doubt the Tribble patching will count towards your pre-patch.
It's complicated, and difficult to explain. Especially since this isn't my area of expertise, and I don't fully understand it myself. Long answer short though: most likely not, LIVE will probably need to patch itself separately from Tribble in this instance.

That's nice to know that although we read 0% done, what was downloaded remains but it raises an other question, where did it go?
After resuming the pre-patch download I checked the folder again and saw that it was almost empty. The 400+ MB that were there are no more.
I too like to know what the actual amout of recieved data is supposed to be... I´m already over 4300MB now and at 65%... making up for 6,5GB of total recieved until done.
Are these numbers correct? There are lots of people with far less data recieved. That´s a bit confusing.

I did patching today, looked in my prepatch folder... and the size hadn't changed, still under a MB...

This is interesting since I also play Champions Online (both the Live and Public Test servers); and I know for a fact that for CO, when they put a patch that was tested on the CO PTS, it live server copies all the data that it can from the PTS Hogg file directory first, then downloads any further changes from the internet. Given it's th same patch server and underlyiing game engine for both MMOs, I'm surprised that STO would do PTS to Live server patching differently for those assisting with PTS testing of new content.
Downloaded patch yesterday. Today it started downloading again the whole patch 2000 plus MB. checked on my ISP and yes almost 1.6 GB was downloaded yesterday.

Same here How many times do we have to DL the patch ?
Same same. Downloaded pre-patch yesterday. I even logged back in and out to check functionality and pre-patch was not re-downloading yesterday. Today, it tries to re-download the pre-patch every time I log-out. I just keep canceling it because it took around 4 hours to download yesterday and I dont want my computer tied up for that long again.

C'mon guys, we're in the 21st century.

Now its doing the whole download over again.
Should I be nervous? Or relieved?

I'm scared too.
My pre patch folder is also just 700kb big, something is definately wrong there.
I quit STO then the launcher went up for me again and began downloading and patching, but there is not even a cancel button.

I did patching today, looked in my prepatch folder... and the size hadn't changed, still under a MB...
I logged back into the game but autopatcher ran a 16mb patch first.
Then when I left the game, it didn't start the pre-patch download which was fine since it has already been done.
I went back to check the folder and all the *.hogg files have been resized to 65kb  which makes a total 705kb.
I'm crossing my fingers....
Getting the same problem here - why ARE we downloading the 16MB patch anyway?

Same here
I logged on several times during the day to play STO(I'm on Holidays
most of the time it loaded a 16mb patch though not everytime.
Today after I played for a couple of hours and logged out, it started downloading the preload patch again.
But its the 19/3/10 here in Oz...... which means its the 18th for Cryptic lol
When does the full patching begin, I thought it was the 18th it started
So is this still the preload or the full patch that wants to download???
I will be glad when this thing is finally out, It should clear up all this patching grief.
next time don't pre-patch, just hit us will the full patch, it's better than suffering through more than one session of your programming at a time.
I just checked the preload folder as others have done, and it says only 312mb is in the folder.
Are these little 16mb patchs TRIBBLE up the preload???
I don't want to keep downloading a preload if it keeps getting deleted.
