Bridge Officer candidate will not join crew

I' recently bought a Very Rare Bridge officer at auction; a Gorn. I have an empty slot open for a new BO on my ship but he refuses to join. He says, "Your feeble attempt to trick me into joining your crew is an insult to my Honor". There is no "join" option on him - only "Not now"

Are you by chance on a Fed character?

If so Gorn BOs are Klingon faction only as far as I know. Based on the message you got back that is exactly the case.

That would indicate that you have a full crew already, are you absolutly sure you have space for another.

Im a Fed charecter and the Gorn has a Starfleet Insignia over his name - And yes, I do have a free space open for him to join

There was a bug not so long ago, which I don't know if was resolved, where after you bought a new BO from the exchange, you would have to change instance before he could join the crew. Try recruiting him, change instance when he refuses, and try again.

As far as I'm aware, you cannot (as a Federation character) recruit Gorn, Orion, Nausicaan, or Lethan Bridge Officers. They should also be displaying the KDF insignia. If it's not, then that's likely a bug, and I'd report the graphical error personally.

You can recruit Klingon officers, but only Federation Klingons, not KDF (not that there's a whole lot of difference).

Sounds like you are experiencing the incorrect faction logo bug. Cryptic will most likely do nothing to resolve this issue and the best I can tell you is to repost the Gorn BO and hope it sells. Sorry to hear this.

And as stated above, Klingons are the ONLY race of BO that are available to both factions, but they are still tied to factions so be wary when buying.

If you have a free slot.

I guess you just bought him from the exchange.

    Log out and log in.

All done, its a known bug.

Unless you bought a gorn that's Kling, what Icon did it have ??

Its a Gorn. You are a Fed. It can not join your crew.

The only way for you to get anything out of it is to send it over to your own Klingon character, keep it on that crew or sell it on the Klingon Exchange. Or I suppose you could re-post it on the Federation Exchange and hope someone makes the same mistake you did, but that would not be very sporting.

How in the heck did a Gorn end up on the fed exchange anyway?

Protip: It's not just the Fed exchange. The Klingons are buying your loot!

The exchange for Fed and KDF is combined. both reside on the same page. This is confusing as the only way to tell is the icon on the far left, which is tiny.

Fixed that quote for my own enjoyment of things related to the exchange.

    ;)

TO Answer TheFtioB. The Exchange is shared. And only Klingons can use the Gorn BO's.

I tried changing instances and everything else I could think of- the guy still won't join. It's a bummer- was really looking forward to having a Gorn Tactical officer :(

There is no 'Fed Exchange'. Its the same for both factions. Sometimes there's a bug showing the wrong faction icon, which is especially confusing with Klingon and Alien BOs.

I bought an Orion on my Fed thinking "If they have Klingon crew why wouldn't I be able to have a different member of their faction join my crew?". Once I realized I wasn't going to be able to add her to my crew I decided I am going to pretend she is in my brig. I periodically "interrogate" her by asking her to join my crew. So far she defiantly refuses. I will not release her back to the Klingon side as that could have dire consequences.

I too have an Orion slave girl on my ship. Yeah, she says she a tactical officer and a member of the Klingon Empire. But ya know what? She doesn't leave. She just hangs out on my ship, eating my food, waltzing around in that skimpy loincloth, sleeping at the foot of my bed after I'm done trying to "trick her" into joining my crew as she puts it.

What can I say? Best credits I've ever spent.
