Questions on Sector Space

Hey gang,

I'm wrapping up my next tutorial video on Sector Space (http://forums.startrekonline.com/showthread.php?t=120021) and I have a quick question.

When you open the System List on the map there are icons next to each system. Some are filled in dark circles, some are white circles, sometimes there is a triangle, or a yellow dot. Is there a list of what these icons mean? I wanted to cover that information in the video.

Also, if anyone has any questions about Sector Space that they haven't seen answered anywhere else, I'll be glad to track down the answer and include it in the report.

Thanks!

Is the circle is coloured in It means you have a quest objective there. If it's a triangle it's usually showing the direction of a sector block.

Oh that makes since. No...the by the triangle I meant...like for example In the Sirius Sector Block...the SS Azura icon is a Triangle. And over in the Regulus Sector Block...the Briar Patch is a Square icon on the System List. Which I think means nebulae maybe?

I just want to clarify these icons before I give misinformation.

Well, since you offered to answer questions, I've been wondering about the space lanes... Do they serve any other purpose than extra art for the sector maps?

As I recall...this has to do with Star Trek Lore? I don't remember the episode, but the story was about Warp Drive diminishing subspace because of Starships using the same routes over and over. This might be some physical artsy representation of that concept.

When I first started the game...I thought it was interplanetary gases stringing the planes together. Haha. I'm not sure of the real concept behind the designs of Sector Space...but I'm pretty sure they represent high areas of travel...like those of Trade Lanes or Civilian Transport Routes.

I would guess that they are artistic representation of normal warp routes to be used.

Transports and Ferengi merchants will fly along them.

You know, I had forgotten about the traders... I've seen them travelling along those routes too, so I'm guessing you're right, they probably just designate trade routes that merchants travel along so you have a better idea of where they are at when you need them (not that I ever have)... Thanks!

Ah I know what you mean. The Triangles are for Points of Interest. Usually places which aren't actually systems.
