Let's take a look at your network adapter, you are using the on-board for a wired connection correct?

Your dxdiag didn't include the driver date, but if you are asking that question I'd say yes because you would know if you updated it in the last week. :)

Windows 7 64bit and this game like to have the latest network adapter driver. At the least it's the first place to start with network related issues.

This could be your ISP or your router / modem freezing due to small packets as an example, but we need to make sure your ship is in shape first.

I used site 1 which ended up being

    ftp://66.104.77.130/cn/nic/Install_Win7_7017_03092010.zip

The file you will want once it's downloaded is

    Install_Win7_7017_03092010.zip

well i have to say its a lot better at least now i can stay online.. at times its still laggy but not constant like it was before and i have been dropped only once when before it was only a few mins before i would get dropped. Still not sure why it started doing this yesturday when it didnt at all before

i'd have to say instead of once every couple of mins i get disconnected at least once every 10mins. not sure what else i can do to prevent that

I'd upgrade that to the newest Flash, people have reported connection issues with older versions of the flash.

    Firmware
    10/05/2009
    Ver.1.02.8
    Download 1.68 MB
    http://downloads.linksysbycisco.com/downloads/firmware/FW_WRT54Gv5v6_1.02.8.001_US_20091005.bin
    Cisco Consumer Products

    Product: WRT54G v5 and v6
    Classification: Firmware Release History
    Firmware Date: Oct 05, 2009

    Last Firmware Version: 1.02.8
    _____________________________________________________________________

    General Notes:
    - This firmware is compatible with WRT54G hardware version 5 and 6 only. Please check the bottom of your router to make sure you have the correct version.
    - Disconnect all wireless clients from the router during the upgrade process. Make sure no wireless clients attempt to associate with the router until the upgrade process is complete.

That's the current supported version of the flash from Linksys. You could check with their support to see if you can try different versions of it.

I know that Rev 6 version of the Router has quite a few connection related complaints (I had one of those myself and upgraded to the GL version a few years ago).

If you want to go the not supported route you could try DD-WRT, but the model of Linksys you have has little memory resources ("gimped" version).

first i would update your ati driver to the 10.2, or 10.3 since its coming this week, all other drivers were not very good. when running game turn off dynamic lighting, known bug that cryptic will fix 1 day.
otherwise your system is not much different from mine, and my 1 works fine.

Dont know if this will help, more like a modem or isp thing, but i have notice framerate improve with this driver.

Looks like there is a fresh connection issue happening for people if you look on the forum. Even IRC is having problems. :(

Everyone is lagging and rubberbanding. Anyone who say's they aren't are either extremely close to the server cluster, or lying.

I am going through sector space, every single player is pinging around, even when i'm not. I'm in the UK, my ping to the patchserver is just over 1 second, which is good. My avg ping to florida areas is around 300 which is about avg.

The problem is not our clients.. the problem is the server load. Fix the servers, fix the lag.

Stop telling people to update drivers or contact thier isp when you know full well, it is the server that has the problem.

I'm ~ 2,000 miles from the data center and I'm not experiencing any lag issues in game moving around from SOL to B'Tran cluster on multiple alts. I ran /netgraph 1 to monitor the connection independent of perceived lag while playing.

If you are getting a 1 second ping to the patch server, that is 1,000ms which is awful.

I know full well there are problems with people's network adapter drivers, home network devices, ISP, and Internet backbone hops. Since this is a peer support forum and I don't work for Cryptic, I can only help people identify issues outside of Cryptic.

Now if truly everyone was having problems, which they are not, IRC would be flooded with people complaining. It appears to be localized to some hops on the internet, like what happened last week.
