Ok for some reason, I cannot connect with my main character, it loads halfway then says "Server is not responding" and goes back to the login screen, I can make new characters no problem and continue to play with them, but I don't want to, I want to play my main character, what is going on?
This has continued for about 16 hours, there is nothing wrong with anything at my end, I have fast internet connection, updated graphics, nothing is wrong at my end
I am located in the UK, so I don't know if this comes under anything European, however this hasn't happened before, i'd love an explanation and if anyone's feeling kind, a solution
Normally this is for never ending loading screen, but does setting the character and world texture quality down to 50% in video options for both help at all?
What I would do if it were me would be to get a packet capture started right before you select that character and stop it right after you get the disconnect. Save it and see what is being reset or missing. Repeat the same capture for a working character and compare the difference.
If you are interested in doing so I have a FAQ on setting it up and using it.
I log in, fine, launcher is fine, everything is fine
I select my main character
It goes to the loading screen
It loads about halfway
Then a RED MESSAGE comes up saying "SERVER NOT RESPONDING"
It then goes back to the login screen saying "SERVER CONNECTION FAILED"
Honestly, there is absolutely nothing wrong here, its not a person specific issue, I can get on using new characters (but i don't want to I want to play as my main character)
Many people have reported this issue, so why is nothing being done about it? there is nothing I can do, Packet Capturing is not the answer
It was server that reset the connection, I can make new characters and play fine, but i can't use my main character
Make a note of the server IP and the port that you are having problems with. You can get that with the packet capture or netstat -n when you are trying to connect to the main character.
See if you can connect to the server IP and port with telnet and get an error response.
If you can remember the exact instance (mission or location) you were on post that, the server IP, and the TCP 7xxx port. I'll try going there with an alt.
Sorry if I missed this, but did you try with an without a proxy setting?
If you want a 2nd set of eyes on the packet capture send me a PM and I'll respond with my email address.
No change using proxies or not, it just doesn't work,
If iI remember correctly, I was using Instance 2
I haven't got access to IP and port numbers as i'm using mobile broadband and even then, i'm not a master of comptuer technology, i mean i can work my way around packets, etc but i'm not exactly clear
I'm not trying to impart blame on anyone, but there is honestly nothing wrong with things at my end, i've tested other online games that use simialr systems and they are absolutely fine, i've also contacted my ISP and they've told me that there are no problems with connectivity in my area
Is it possible that i've just become another victim of the euro server issues?

A packet capture won't solve a problem, it is a troubleshooting tool that helps identify network related problems.
Right, what in the packet capture showed this? What side of the conversation was the issue?

Was it client or server that reset the connection or failed to respond in the TCP Stream?
Are you looking for peer support? If not that is fine, I'll go help others.

I know this is no fun but I'd create a support ticket with the details of the main location.
You also might have luck going to IRC #STOQA, there has been a few devs chatting in there in the last few minutes.
Thanks for your help, i'm in IRC atm trying to find a solution
